I just hung up with an old basketball coach in Alabama and I don’t want to share his name but it rhymes with Simp Wanderson. Anywho, he referred to me being in the eastern time zone with “oh you on fast time huh”. Is this a common saying that I’m just now being exposed to?

From stuff that I think can be shared publicly:

TCU is our secret scrimmage in a couple weeks

Miller is that dude. He thinks he’s definitely lottery and could go even higher. Also said Clowney and Griffin are so much better than their ranking, especially Clowney (but everyone here has already discussed that from us watching the public scrimmages).

He can’t guarantee better shooting than last year but he said there’s too many guys who shoot well and can get hot for us not to be pretty consistently good from deep.

He didn’t want to say it but essentially our collective is more important at this time than the arena fund.

Fund the collective, I say, and funds for the Arena will automatically follow.

I’ll actually believe there’s gonna be a new arena the day I step foot in it.

He did say we had the funds to start the process and then inflation/building costs soared which means Byrne has to do more fundraising in that regard.

I did also ask about the Golden article from cbs where he said he’s going after top 40 kids and then all in on transfers compared to what our staff’s strategy is. He said we’ll continue to focus on high school kids and look at transfers when they make sense, but to rely solely on transfers isn’t something he’d advise because they learned in this past transfer market that it’s an all out bidding war to who can offer the most NIL money for the top transfers.

That makes sense. If you need to fill 5 roster spots and can only sign 1 top ~40 prep kid, what do you do if you keep getting outbid on transfers? The transfer market tends to be a microwave instead of a slow burn like recruiting high school kids. You basically get like 4-6 weeks after the season, and if plans A and B fall through you are fricked if your plan C was someone else's plan A. With high school kids you have time to make up ground like we seem to have done with this cycle. That's not the case with portal guys.

I agree. If you have kids, make sure they learn more than one practical language (aside from English).
