I didn’t know that was the rule but I did that exactly
. I initially requested 4 and then did 8 more for business purposes to clients.

Nice. I wonder how many high schools kids we want to take this year before looking at transfers?

We’re only gonna have like 1 more spot (as of now) correct? If that’s the case then I’m guessing we aren’t thinking about the portal yet being that we’re still recruiting some other 2023 guys heavily

We are losing 4 to eligibility expiring, Miller is 99% gone to the NBA, we have an open scholarship, and I'm sure 1-2 others will transfer or go pro. So probably anywhere from 6-8 scholarships to give. Maybe 4-5 prep kids?

I think that’s a good summation. I’d love to add a big in the transfer portal more so than take a high school big just for a few more years of physically maturing. I could be wrong but I feel like we’ve only been mentioned with 1-3 guys, not really many forwards.

Below is a list of the targets at the PF/C position that i'm aware of. Mouhamed Dioubate might be the only one we're still in contact with though tbh.

4* Mouhamed Dioubate | 6'7" 215 lbs | #89 overall | #18 PF | 247
3* Jarred Hall | 6'8" 190 lbs | #164 overall | #34 PF | 247

We have had or will have Kris Parker, Kaden Cooper, and Mouhamed Dioubate in for visits recently, so they seem to be priorities. Saw somewhere on line we are favored for Parker. All are too 100 players.

Parker and Cooper are wings, I think Bryant was referring more to bigs. At least that what I thought.

Three reasons why Davin Cosby is a big addition for Alabama
Davin Cosby’s commitment to Alabama was anything but a surprise on Saturday afternoon.
They were the first high-major program to offer him a scholarship in July, when his recruitment exploded during the first week of the July recruiting period.
Then, they were the first school to host him for an official visit earlier this month.
So while his commitment was not unexpected, it was also significant for three main reasons:
1. They value what he does best
Nate Oats is a coach who values three-point shooting and his teams’ style of play reflects that. Last season, almost 48% of the team’s field goal attempts came from behind the arc. That was the 12th highest ratio in the country. That number was no outlier either. In fact, Alabama has finished inside the top 20 in that category in each of his three seasons at the helm of the program.
Cosby’s best asset is his ability to shoot the basketball. His shooting mechanics are excellent. His ball has loft and rotation. He can make spot-up shots with range well beyond the college arc, so he’s going to have a ton of gravity as a floor-spacer, but can also come off screens. His mechanics and release stay consistent shooting off the dribble, and while he’s not a dynamic athlete or creator, he is plenty adept at attacking close-outs and shows some untapped potential as secondary pick-and-roll threat with subtle passing ability to complement his shot-making.
2. There is an immediate opportunity
Cosby joins Sam Walters and R.J. Johnson in the class. All three are threats from behind the arc, but Cosby fits an even more specific need on the wing as Walter is more of a stretch-big and Johnson a combo-guard.
Alabama brought in St. Bonaventure grad transfer Dominick Welch to provide immediate shot-making on the wing last spring, but he only has a single season of eligibility remaining. At 6-foot-5 with an already strong frame, Cosby has an opportunity to provide a more permanent solution for that spot in the coming years. He’ll have a chance to contend for immediate minutes from day one and then undoubtedly see his role continue to expand with each subsequent year.
3. He is a multi-year player
Nate Oats and his staff have set the bar very high on the recruiting trail since arriving in the SEC, making it clear that they intend to pursue the nation’s top prospects in each recruiting cycle. Last fall, they hosted both Isaiah Collier and Ja'Kobe Walter for early official visits. This summer, they hosted Freddie Dilione and took his recruitment all the way to the finish line before his commitment to Tennessee.
Would they have liked to land all three of those players? Of course. Anyone in the country would have. But when you swing for the fences, you also must make sure you don’t strike out. Alabama has hit their fair share of home-runs on the recruiting trail, and there are undoubtedly more to come, but the key to sustainable long-term success is finding multi-year impact players. That’s exactly what Cosby is likely to be. He’s a player who can make an impact for multiple years, play alongside dynamic scorers, and maybe even develop into one down the road.
