Totally agree.

You saw sloppy, but I saw what looked like more active, disruptive defense than what we typically did last year.
I agree with that too - didn't mean to sound quite as negative as I did. This should be the best roster we've had in the Oats era and it sounds like everyone is on the same page and ready to do what it takes to have a great season. Just hope we avoid those damn injuries that it seems like we've had to go through for the last decade.

I agree with Robot. Someone is getting kidnapped in Paris or there will be a minimum of two blown ACLs.

I hope Miles will be a leader and keep his head straight all year. He seems like a really likable guy so it’d be nice if he stopped getting in trouble with the staff

Hodgson is way too scary for this to happen.

I'm disappointed but hey hopefully they have the highlights put up after the games.

Did Wimp hit a old Gypsy woman with his car and drive off? We swing are dicks around with football. But with basketball, we act like an battered spouse.

AbSnopes, would love to make open practice, but duty calls. Can you give us a report?

Well, yeah. We are all in an emotionally abusive relationship with Alabama basketball.

i watched the 20 minute video on youtube of scrimmage. i agree with robotsanta, there was some sloppy play. but i was encouraged by the shooting for the most part, cant make'em all. the middle still looked a lil weak. dont recall to mny dribble drives into the paint with crazy shots, most if not all were kicked out to a shooter. also dont recall any dump offs into the center for close range shots. doesnt mean it didnt happen, ive just got that next day memory thing going on. so long as the eiffel tower dont fall on 2 or 3 players, it should be an exciting season.

Burnett electric? Miles stepping up and taking ownership of the team? Chemistry already good?

I forgot who made this point a few weeks ago about figuring out Oats' coach speak but I really hope the hype on Burnett is real. We can obviously see the talent Miller has and Miles being a more vocal leader makes sense but if Sears hits the ground running and Burnett looks to be his former 5* self then we're going to have a good team.

Four star combo guard Freddie Dilione talks visit, decision timeline
One of the big names of the summer, Freddie Dilione is wrapping up a visit to Alabama. The four-star Word Of God Christian Academy (Raleigh, N.C.) combo guard recently visited Wake Forest and may be nearing a decision in the future.
“Right now I have a top 10, you never know it can always change,” he said. “I’m on a visit to Alabama right now and this is my last one for my junior year and then it’ll reset for my senior year. If I don’t decide before then I’ll most definitely visit Texas and then Louisville.”
Wake Forest: “The visit went well. I met the whole staff, all the players and they’re very genuine, honest people. Coach Forbes is a great guy along with the rest of the staff.”
“The system fit me. I liked the way they get the ball up and down, their plays, where screens come from, and how they move the ball. I saw with their practice that it’s next level stuff.”
Alabama: “I’m loving Bama. They talked about a lot of great stuff and the whole staff is good. There’s no downside to Alabama there’s a lot of great stuff here.”
“Nate Oats is a great coach and they just have a lot of history here. I’m going to continue the process but from what I’ve seen so far from the facilities, people here, and style of play, it really fits me. they’re great people so most definitely an option.”
“I also met Nick Saban that was crazy, he’s a great guy to talk to.”
Texas: “I met a couple of their coaches over there and what they’re saying is great. Style of play is big in Texas so there’s nothing wrong with seeing what they got over there.”
Louisville: “Coach Nolan Smith has been on me since he was at Duke. He’s been saying good things to me and told coach Kenny Payne about me and offered.
With Dilione taking his last visit of his junior season, a decision may be coming in the near future.
“I want to make my decision very soon but I’m not going to rush nothing. I’m just trying to see my options out.”

My takeaways from the 20 min scrimmage video:
- Jaden Bradley at half-speed was dominant. I said when we landed him that he was my favorite recruit in this class. I stand by that. Dude was getting whatever he wanted, played very under control, and didn't force anything.
- Darius Miles definitely looked like the vocal leader out there. He made several hustle plays as well, and looked to be very solid.
- Sears looked a little sloppy, but to be fair he's been getting possibly the most praise of anybody this off-season.
- Hard to tell what all happened previously but the scoreboard showed 85-74 in favor of what many people here would have labeled as the B-team of those 2 groups (Bradley, Burnett, Welch, Miles, and Gurley) with only Burnett and maybe Welch as the guys of that group many thought might be in the starting lineup. To be fair though, the Crimson group (Sears, Griffen, Miller, Clowney, and Bediako) probably had the 2 worst players among the group that played and none of them played together before this year.

Don’t see how an article could sound anymore positive for us unless he outright said he committed
Posted on 7/30/22 at 10:10 am to Bryant91092
Yeah those quotes make it sound like it's just a matter of when not if he commits to us. He kinda reminds me of Levi Randolph.

Anybody go to the open scrimmage?
Posted on 7/30/22 at 11:28 am to Joka2kold
Halftime: Crimson 42, White 42
Brandon Miller with 14 points this quarter to give him a scrimmage-high 18. He hit a couple of threes and made some impressive plays.
The freshman came to play today.

Folks saying Clowney has looked really good too. That’d be a very nice surprise for the season if he was ready to contribute.

I'm just going to have trouble having a good gauge of this team until I see them play real games because the biggest issues last year were the sorts of things you really don't see until you actually see high intensity game situations (defense and consistent intensity).
The newcomers looking comfortable and talented enough to compete with the veterans is a good sign, though.

Sears beats the buzzer with a runner to tie it at 62 heading to the 4th. Miller with 27
And yes, Clowneys hit 4 threes so far
