I don't buy that for a second.

Keon fell due to his listed height being 6’3”. We had him listed at 6’6” so… that’s why he went undrafted

His listed height would be 6'5". Hollinger was just being an idiot and listing him based on his height without shoes while everyone else was listed in shoes (the typical listed height in basketball).

I can't stand Hollinger. I've always gotten strong "savors the aroma of his own farts" vibes from him.

Yeah 6’3” without shoes, everyone else at the combine also gets measured without shoes also though. But yeah it’s a good thing they play with shoes on, I do think that affected his stock though as well as his invisibility tendency.

All Hollinger takes aside, it’s tough work being a “3 and D” wing at 6’5, 167 pounds.

He’s just not big enough to do anything but lock down smaller point guards. And he’s not really a lock down defender anyway - he’s just a good defender.

We must have tried to put some weight on him and then gave up and listed him at 175.

Celtics biggest issues is turnovers and they pick the guy with the most turnovers in the draft. Perfect fit

JD should've come back but he strikes me as a guy that was all NBA right when he stepped foot on campus, there were rumors his family was all NBA too. Unfortunate because if he came back and played a bit more under control and showed a decent jump shot, he could've gone much higher. Maybe we'll put to bed the "but Primo" arguments regarding drafting on potential.

Keon not getting drafted is kinda surprising but he's an undersized 3+D guy and doesn't seem to have a whole lot of dog in him. I could see him carving out a role in the NBA but going to the Kings organization just made it a bit more difficult.

I don't think anyone had any expectations for Shack. It's a shame he couldn't stop thinking about the pro level, one more year here and he would've finished as one of the all-time greats production-wise.

Glad this stage of our off-season is over, now time to focus on the guys we have here. I'm getting very excited to see some action from our Freshmen later this summer.

I'd be shocked if JD played a single NBA minute next year. He'll be in the G-League all season. He's with a great organization who will teach him the things he needs to be taught and if he works hard he'll work his way onto the active roster by 2023-24.

The draft is still all about potential. Shaedon Sharpe hasn't played basketball in over a year and went 7th overall. Due to someone screwing up and posting an incorrect age (22 instead 20) Jake LaRavia went from likely not being drafted at all to being selected #19.

Primo was drafted on potential, but he has size and a pure shooting ability that JD will never have. And he doesn't have any real glaring holes in his game - he's a decent rebounder, defender and passer at minimum. It's clear he has a fit in the league imo.

JD could have also been a first round pick based on potential if he had a more well rounded game, but he turned out to be more of a one trick pony that didn't or wasn't able to use his one trick enough. His lack of size pretty much pigeonholes him into being a smallish PG that can't shoot as well as his peers, doesn't take care of the basketball and is a turnstile on defense. He can improve and have a career in the NBA, but it's going to take a lot of work on his part to overcome some of those deficiencies. A wider lane in the NBA should help a guy like JD as long as he can improve his ball handling and first step. It's possible, but he's going to have to really want to put the work in to get there.

While i agree with you. He was the number one guy in the class. Has a rumored 49 inch vertical. 6'6 and can shoot the lights out. They also get to watch them play in private workouts. As a Portland Trailblazer fan i feel we have to take chances on players because we dont have a market where guys want to come.

Avery/Nate really elevated the level of player that we signed after CMG's lazy last 3-4 classes and Grant's era. 8 of those 9 guys played within the last 5 years (7 of them in the last 3 years).

Class of 2017 (Avery)
Collin Sexton (NBA)
Herb Jones (NBA)
John Petty (G-League)

Class of 2018 (Avery)
Kira Lewis (NBA)

Class of 2019 (Oats)
Jaden Shackelford (G-League)

Class of 2020 (Oats)
Josh Primo (NBA)
Keon Ellis (NBA/G-League)

Class of 2021 (Oats)
JD Davison (NBA/G-League)

Current Roster future NBA/G-League probable/possibles
- Charles Bediako
- Jahvon Quinerly
- Brandon Miller
- Jaden Bradley
- Nimari Burnett

And the 9th guy is JaMychal Green, right?

Why would he stay? His game wont change or progress any. He is what he is.
