Definitely gotta go to that. Is Kira supposed to be healthy by then? Really haven’t kept up with his injury

He should be ready to go. I’m definitely going too. Should be fun.

The strategy is there’s nobody out there good enough that we want,” said Oats in an interview on The Next Round. “We’re not gonna burn it up on somebody just to burn it up. I mean, we kind of swung for some guys in the portal, and honestly, we don’t have holes, I feel like, on the team. If there’s like maybe best available that we could have got that would have really helped us, but right now, there’s just nobody that we feel like would move the needle enough.

”I was a high school coach for 11 years, and I try to look out for guys. When my high school players went somewhere and the coaches didn’t look out for them, I’d get upset. I don’t want to bring a kid in here that’s a transfer that’s expecting to play significant minutes and we just can’t give him the minutes. If you go through our roster, we don’t have too many holes. Now, I’m not saying that means we’re gonna win X number of games or all that, but we’re not missing any one position, like, drastically with a huge hole there.

”So unless they were just that good to really move the needle a lot, I’m not gonna screw a kid, bring him in here, play five minutes a game. I just don’t think it’s right to do that to a kid just to have security in your roster and use all the spots.”

I completely agree with him in principle, but he just isn't quite embedded in the fabric of Alabama basketball enough to understand that there will absolutely be holes in the roster by the time November rolls around and we have lost 2 guys for the season with lower leg injuries.
Hopefully he learns over the next couple of years.

Maybe he is just preserving our limited NIL money. Saving it for the big guns?

JD Davison could join an Alabama-loaded Pelicans team through the NBA draft (USA Today)

Kalbrosky predicts that Davison will join Kira Lewis Jr. and Herb Jones in New Orleans with the Pelicans’ No. 41 overall selection. New Orleans would be a great landing spot for JD with these familiar faces and a very similar style of play as in Tuscaloosa.

Will Sweet Home Alabama be just players from the state? Not necessarily Roll Tiders? I hope some day we can get an all UA alumni team like Buffalo, who Hodgson and Adam Bowman coach. Who could we get as coach?

Wimp was on wjox this morning. They asked him about JD and whether he should have come back. Wimp said he should have come back to school, but I dont think he liked going to class. Wimp said JD needs to learn to play with other players. He is just very average in everything he does.
Wimp said fans get all excited about jumping and dunking, but (then he just grumbled). Wimp said he lost Ennis Whatley after his Soph year, and he needed to come back, but the agents got to him behind my back. He said Ennis didnt like going to class either.

Trevor Releford wants to coach an all-Bama team. That’s what I was told. Just don’t have anyone with a big enough name to organize it. I tried to get something going and got a few former players to tell me they were interested but at the very last second some of the bigger names decided they didn’t want to risk injury or whatever and backed out

Thanks for trying Bamafan! Maybe we can get some NIL going for that next year.
