I look for Auburn to take a step back defensively for certain because they wont have Walker Kessler to erase mistakes. He made it hard on Oats offense because so much of it was going to the rim.
Unfortunately they got Broome in the portal who is about as close to Kessler as a rim protector as there is in CBB.

Glad that Burnett was playing 5 on 5 which to me signals he’s pretty much a full go now in his recovery.

If Miller’s got that post fade going, no reason not to use his length and keep defenses honest on his drive.
Expecting big things out of Bediako.
Burnett’s burst is enticing in a 5v5 setting, and Sears’ quick trigger will be vital for getting his shots off. Summer camp with SEC caliber players will do him wonders in adjusting to this level of play.
I could go on but everything is exciting in a 30 second clip. Realistically though we should be much improved with a roster of competent Guards, Wings, and Bigs. Dom Welch as a vocal defender with experience really was much needed to tie it all together. Q being available would be icing on the cake.

If he can make it consistently, he should feel free to take it and I don't think the coaches will stop him. That's the thing the usual suspects who show up during the season to bitch about the lack of mid-range game in our offense don't understand. It's not that a 15 foot turnaround jumper is an inherently bad shot. It's just a bad shot for the vast majority of players. The relative quality of a shot depends entirely on who is taking it. For the very few who were blessed with the shooting touch to consistently knock it down it's not much different than any other shot. If Miller happens to be a part of that group, it's not a bad shot for him.

I mean he’s ranked 15th overall on their list. It’s not disrespectful to point out areas of his game he can improve on.
Honestly, if they didn't talk about the positives and negatives to someone's game, I wouldn't trust that they're doing anything but pumping sunshine for clicks. It makes me feel like it's a more honest analysis.

Agree with both of y’all on both of these completely

I just wanna see the defense. Oats will find a way to score points but if we come out and are solid on defense the first few games I’m gonna be real excited

Yea, Bediako played pretty good against him. If Bediako puts in that work this off-season I could see that battle being one sided honestly.

Noah Clowney moved a lot better than I thought he would so we might need to keep our eyes on him.
Didn't see these two so I am guessing...
Bradley must not be cleared yet.
Pringle probably hasn't made it here yet.

Ten takeaways from Pangos All-American Camp
Recently announcing his commitment to Alabama, Walters had some really strong moments during camp. A lengthy lefty who stroked the long ball and flourished on the break, Walters used the camp for what it was worth. He positioned himself as an elite spot-up option and great transition target and was much more productive than we saw in some earlier spring viewings. Nate Oats' fast-paced system should bode well for him in Tuscaloosa.

Sorry. I was talking about Sam Walters, the new commitment.

I don't know that I have seen anything on how he profiles defensively. He looks like he has pretty good length and is reasonably athletic though, and that usually translates to being at least an adequate defender.

... If he brings his lunch pail.
He seems like a dude with good size, the tools we need from a big wing/pf, and solid athleticism. Being skinny is common from 17 year old who play basketball non stop. He's also from a retirement village, where heavy lifting isn't probably common around town. I'm honestly shocked they have any sports prospects. I honestly didn't know they have schools. I thought workers lived in Ocala or the outskirts.
But him being skinny vs him having another 25-30 lbs could be the difference between him being a four star high major recruit vs him being a five star.

Good for him. I hope he likes to eat. It's also cool to see the first branches growing on the Oats coaching tree.

Broome is 6'10, not a 7'1 long armed stork like Kessler.

Broome looked better offensively than Kessler as well but the biggest question is....Can he do it consistently against top tier competition like Kessler did?

Kessler was an all-time great rim protector, so he won't be that, but he was 6th in the country in block rate. He'll be very good at it. But he won't erase the entire area within 7 feet of the rim like Kessler did.
