Sears’ shot will be a measuring stick

So will Welch’s, Burnett’s, Miller’s, and JQ’s when he returns, maybe Griffin’s too. We will be shooting lots of 3’s.

It could be IrobbedmyMom. Think about it. He was super confident to start the season And said we would whoop everybody’s arse. Said he smoked with Shack and JQ multiple times. Got really pissed when I accused JQ of point shaving…. Just saying he could be JQ.

Outside of Brandon Miller (whom I think is the obvious choice for the first x factor) who do y’all think is the biggest x-factor and we’re going to be dependent of for a good performance most nights to win?

As far as a litmus test for how well we play as a team, I think it has to be Sears and Bradley. Generally speaking we go as our PGs go.

I think whether Burnett's offensive game comes around will go a long way in determining how good we can be as well. He and Bediako probably have the most potential to be impact guys on both ends next year, but wings tend to get more scoring opportunities in our offense.

My opinion

Nimari Burnett will probably be the biggest X-Factor. I am hoping that he can return to form some what and provide the defense that he always showed at Texas Tech and hopefully he has found his offensive rhythm at the college level.

Mark Sears will be huge as well because he will be tasked to orchestrate the team so to speak.

Dom Welch will be another guy who could be a huge X-Factor. He's going to be able to impact the game in a variety of ways.

Darius Miles will he take the off-season seriously because he has first round NBA talent written all over him but he has too put it together.

The Freshman Class...
Jaden Bradley
Brandon Miller
Rylan Griffen
Noah Clowney
Nick Pringle (Juco)

Any of these guys could be an X-Factor but I have a sleeper and it's...

Noah Clowney
I've watched some highlights of him and I wonder just how good he could possibly be as a Freshman. He has a pretty looking stroke from beyond the ark with nice size to go along with it. Clowney could be that stretch four man that is needed to really make everything click.

Thanks for the post.

Miles certainly fits the profile of players that finally break out as he's shown he can really do it all but only in glimpses.

The team has no shortage of X-factors.

Of course, all of those players also attack the basket and should be expected to in SEC play. Sears’ athleticism and ability to create his own offense consistently in this conference have been questioned.

If his shot is falling the whole floor opens up for him and all the other players you mentioned. Think of Shack and the result it had on the entire offense when his shot was falling.

I feel the need to clarify. This was once at a party. Pulled a couple bowls on the deck and chopped it up for a lil, cool mfs. The point shaving thing was a little lame tho ngl mistaken

I don't want to expect too much......we've been burned before. I do think we will be in the top 5 of the league as long as we receive "Herb" level effort every game..... that's all i want. 5 Herbs out there.....or 3 Marcus Smart's and 2 Herbs....haha!!

The RollTide.com write up

Alabama Men’s Basketball Announces Foreign Trip to Spain, France in August

The Crimson Tide will play three games over a 10-day stretch from Aug. 5-14

The Alabama men's basketball team will venture on a 10-day foreign tour to Barcelona, Spain, and Paris, France, in August, head coach Nate Oats has announced. The Crimson Tide will play two games and spend four days in Barcelona before traveling to Paris for another four days and one contest.

Per NCAA rules regarding a foreign tour, Alabama will hold 10 days of practices prior to departing Tuscaloosa. The Tide's trip will begin on Aug. 5 when it departs Tuscaloosa for Atlanta. The Tide will arrive in Barcelona at 8:55 a.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 6.

The two games in Barcelona will be played Aug. 8 and Aug. 9, with the team departing for Paris on Aug. 10. The lone contest in France will take place Aug. 12. The team will return to Tuscaloosa on Aug. 14.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to have our program go on a foreign trip as a team to Barcelona and Paris," head coach Nate Oats said. "It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our guys. It will give us all an opportunity to come together as a team before the season begins through the extra practices we'll have, the educational and cultural experiences that we'll encounter and the high-level competition that we plan on facing. It will be an experience that will remain with us all."

Further details surrounding the trip including opponents, tip times, locations and more will be announced at a later time.

That's cool as hell. Not only for the players, but also for future recruiting. I'm just curious who they'll be playing. It would be cool to play La Liga and LNB Pro A teams.

I hope there is a way for us to watch the games, but I doubt it.
