Hey so that space on Twitter said we was going to Spain

Getting Welch really takes some of the pressure off these young guys.
Good pick-up.

Really is huge. I mean until somebody has to have emergency leg removal surgery and another guy gets abducted during our trip to Spain. Then we'll be thin again.

Props to the staff for not panicking and sticking with the plan of what they needed - a veteran, tough, 3/D player. Well done.

I would be curious to know how much $$$ we gave him. Must have been a good offer to visit one day and then commit the next

Gonna need you to do that whole numbers and math thing and make a case for why Welch should have been an All-American last year and will lead us to 30 wins, a conference championship, and the Final Four.

Alabama lands St. Bonaventure grad transfer Dominick Welch (on3)
St. Bonaventure graduate transfer Dominick Welch has committed to Alabama, he tells On3.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard spent all four seasons with the Bonnies, and averaged 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists during the 2021-22 season. He also shot 41.4% from the field and 37.4% from three-point range.
Welch, a Buffalo, N.Y., native, chose the Crimson Tide over Texas Tech. Alabama head coach Nate Oats began his head coaching career at the University of Buffalo, where he was named MAC Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2019. When Oats’ accepted the head coaching gig at Alabama, his right-hand man, Bryan Hodgson, made the move with him. Hodgson has made a name for himself on the recruiting trail as one of the nation’s best recruiters, bringing top talent to Tuscaloosa from both the high school ranks and the transfer portal.
With the addition of Welch, Alabama has formed a seven-man recruiting class in 2022. From the high school ranks, the Tide have landed commitments from five-star SF Brandon Miller, four-star PG Jaden Bradley, four-star SG Rylan Griffen, and four-star PF Noah Clowney. Transferring in from the JUCO level is PF Nick Pringle, not to mention Ohio transfer PG Mark Sears.

So, no running with the bulls in Pamplona. And no bull fighting after they finish running over guys in the street. Just stay in the gym.

Someone here said that they had been to the town where Welch was from and that he was gonna like coming to Tuscaloosa. We probably threw some money and whores at him too though, just to be on the safe side.

During an appearance at last week’s Regions Tradition Pro-Am, Alabama head coach Nate Oats spoke about his team’s needs moving forward, stating Alabama was looking for “a big wing that can make shots.” Welch fits that mold and figures to contribute to the Crimson Tide’s rotation next season.

I bet Oats was loving Saban calling Jimbo out tonight. Oats seems like he loves some shite talking
Posted on 5/18/22 at 9:51 pm to mistaken4193
Probably the most quiet 7 minutes around a mic of Nate Oats life
Posted on 5/18/22 at 9:54 pm to SummerOfGeorge
Oats was probably thinking he’s not even that honest and brash in an open forum

Looks like a perfect fit for Alabama, like a couple of other posters have mentioned, he's the kind of guy that we specifically target.
Some fans may not get too thrilled about seeing someone from the Bonnies coming to Alabama but the fit is just as, if not more important, than just pure talent. This dude has good size for his position, can hit the 3 at volume and at a high percentage, play defense, and be a veteran presence. Don't discount the experience, when March rolls around, that's going to be valuable to have and his former conference is no slouch.
I would like to see him in the lineup and he provides even more flexibility for Oats. This would allow Miller to play the 4 and have Gurley coming off the bench. It's now a potent starting 5 and the quality of depth off the bench gets even better. We can also basically do anything with the last roster spot at this point. Adding a 3+D Wing that can play plus defense and is a starting-caliber player for us is an absolute win.
Glad the panic posts can finally stop.

This is my ideal lineup as well. First 3 off the bench:
Bradley - takes over for Sears or Burnett, meaning as long as Sears or Bradley are on the court we have a true point. All 3 in the backcourt will get starter minutes.
Miles - our top Wing off the bench, if he takes the next step he'll still get a ton of minutes. The staff loves him, just needs to put on a few more pounds.
Gurley - another vet. Can play the 4 and a bit of the 5. Like Welch, having someone with that much experience is very valuable. If his play just increases a bit then he's a great player to have off the bench.
This gives you the comfort of not putting much pressure to immediately produce on the 3 others from the recruiting class. Still have another roster spot to play with, if I had to pick, give me another frontcourt guy.

I’m too stupid to realize that stuff.
Bamafan, can you please put Grandma back in her cage until we fill that 13th spot?
