but since basketball rosters are scaled down so much compared to football I don't think those tactics would translate.
Definitely wouldn’t translate on the same scale but I’d be willing to bet 1-2 players on that roster is expendable if push comes to shove. Aka Council, he’s probably the last of em though

We are at 14 assuming Jaylin comes back but that is looking less likely everyday.

We are still going after a wing as that is definitely a weak spot on the roster still. I expect we will close up shop with a council commit if that happens. Which will put us one over if Jaylin stays in the draft.

Lot of speculation/rumors that the numbers will work out naturally due to someone not qualifying. But that has definitely been the most asked question on our boards.

Also got to be careful with those “x teams have reached out” tweets. Muss has been clear that some of that is just initial contact but no follow up.

Arkansas can just give one of them a walk-on spot and then pay them extra to make up for the lack of scholarship

Would that actually work? I mean I guess it'd be on the NCAA to say no, and they aren't going to do shite.

I don’t think anyone has tried it yet but as far as I know there aren’t any rules to stop it

There has been talk of that but I don’t think anyone wants to open that door especially considering what has come out the last few days.

Given what was reported recently I don't see how you could claim a guy with scholarship offers to comparable D1 programs decided to pay his own way without NIL guarantees, but I also won't hold my breath on the NCAA doing much about it. Maybe a program being open and obvious about it like Aggy or Texas football, but that's it.

A blind eye is definitely getting turned. Let’s also not be naive and act like these players weren’t getting bags prior to NIL. It’s been out of control especially this past decade, now it’s got the eye of sauron on it.

Alabama basketball's Davison, Ellis Invited to NBA Draft Combine While Shackelford Misses Out (SI)

The Crimson Tide is looking to make it three straight years with a player selected in the NBA Draft.
quote:

In his latest NBA Draft Big Board, Sports Illustrated's Jeremy Woo rated Ellis as the No. 30 overall player in this year's class while tabbing Davison at No. 57 and Shackelford at No. 92.

I saw on this site's Arkansas board some speculation that your twins may be out so that Council can come - and that you all expect him to commit. They would have limited minutes if Jaylin comes back.

Did he hire an agent yet? Because if this is the general consensus on him among NBA scouts and FOs that was probably a big mistake on his part. I don't see JD shooting up the board like Primo did given how far away he is in terms of basketball skills.

This board needs news or a rumor or something

I don't think there is anything solid so people are coming up with so many theories

In April, this was reported
quote:

Alabama freshman JD Davison announced he will declare for the 2022 NBA draft. Davison didn’t state if he would hire an agent but told Jonathan Givony of ESPN that he is done with college.

Charlie Potter wrote this yesterday LINK

quote:

The NBA announced Tuesday a full list of players are expected to attend the 2022 NBA Draft Combine, and two players from Alabama are set to participate in the pro scouting event.

Senior guard Keon Ellis and freshman guard JD Davison are on the list of expected attendees for the NBA Draft Combine. Davison was one of two Crimson Tide underclassmen that entered the draft while maintaining their college eligibility, joining junior guard Jaden Shackelford. However, Shackelford was not among the prospects invited to the NBA Combine.

This confirms what I've been thinking for a while as far as our portal struggles go. Sears was an easy sell because of the proximity to home and how obvious his fit in the rotation would be. The rest of our minutes are totally up in the air though, so all these off ball guards and wings we're trying to sign would be leaving a situation where they know where they stand for one where they don't.

Would be tough starting the season with 10 players and so many of them inexperienced. Especially if the schedule is as tough as last years. We need one more impact guy badly.
