Johnson missed 2 seasons due to a heart condition, but averaged 14 points, and 7.1 rebounds per game during the 19-20 season. Will be interesting to see if he’s cleared to play next season.

So Baylor bound? Hasn't Baylor had two different situations in which they cleared a player that could not get cleared at their previous schools?

They cleared Jared Butler after we would not. And I'd be somewhat surprised if Baylor wasn't aware that Isaiah Austin had Marfan's, although that isn't something that has been confirmed as far as I know.

South Dakota State transfer Baylor Scheierman has cut his list to five.

Arkansas, Clemson, Creighton, Duke and Nebraska are all in the mix.

I know I like to joke about it, but the fact that literally none of the half dozen or whatever it is websites that Alabama fans pay money to access have even managed to put out the typical "he enjoyed his visit and Alabama is seen as a major contender" bullshite for Lucas is fricking pathetic.

I mean at this point we could have been recruiting a portal guy for weeks, but if none of the national guys have checked in on him during that time we wouldn't have a clue.

Their coverage of the transfer portal this year has been pathetic. All of them.

Really, really bad.

I would like to know what they are doing with their time. Football recruiting is usually pretty dead this time of year and spring practice is over. The basketball transfer portal is the big news item this time of year.

I’m legit worried about the future of our basketball program now because of NIL. I don’t think Oats is gonna be given the money to work with because all of our booster money is gonna go to football.

Arkansas is killing it using WalMart money.

Casagrande is too busy trolling Alabama on twitter to cover anything

There's no way we would have signed Miller if there hadn't been a pretty significant salary commitment made to him by boosters. There's money being thrown around. It's just a question of how far it extends down the bench.

NIL cost us Nick Smith. I have no doubt Oats will have money for 2 or 3 elite players every year but Im worried about him getting money for elite portal guys.

If our upward trajectory continues and we firmly establish ourselves the interest will be there and so will the money. Nick Smith was also from Little Rock, so I wouldn’t be too worried. Our basketball program hasn’t been in this good of a position since Wimp, relax

Walmart. JB Hunt. Tyson Chicken. 3 Future 500 companies headquartered with 15 miles of Fayetteville. There's gold in thar hills.

Basketball is a sport that's much easier to fund a winning team than football. And Arkansas is definitely going all in with basketball. Probably because the boosters know how naturally disadvantaged in football vs the traditional SEC powers, and their history of basketball success.

You also have to be mindful of the fact that basketball isn't a zero sum game like football where your destiny is largely outside of your control unless you win the conference. If you finish 4th in today's SEC in basketball you're going to make the tournament and probably end up with a competitive seeding though. Get hot at the right time and you have as good a chance as anyone. I don't expect us to spend more on basketball than Kentucky and Arkansas, but that doesn't mean we're suddenly going to care about basketball as much as UGA or South Carolina.

On3 is now the official recruiting website of Duke basketball. Unfortunately it comes at the expense of losing credibility with...checks notes...literally every other fanbase in America.

It just depends. They dropped Lively from 1 to 8 but raised Anthony Black (going to Arkansas) from 34 to 9. Not sure how you can have such a huge swing this late.

I kind of agree with them on raising Whitmore, Mitchell and Black. All three are top tier players.

Yeah I was looking at their consensus rankings by mistake I think. The top 3 in that are all Duke signees. Their own rankings aren't quite as crazy as that, but they do have a ton of kids they've moved up or down like 20-30, or more, spots despite the only thing going on right now being All-Star games.
