Eh, not that big of a deal to me honestly. He's not bad by any means, but there are some others that I definitely wanted over him.

Agreed on Chuck. If he can get his strength up to where it needs to be, he has a Walker Kessler type of ceiling on defense. I'm not saying that he will win the Naismith DPOY next year, because that's a stupid thing to try and predict. But Chuck absolutely has the potential of being a maniac in the middle and affecting every shot within eight feet of the rim.
Really need him to have the mindset that grabbing 10 boards a game is his baseline next year. He's too tall, long and athletic to average four boards a game like he did. That number needs to be eight at a minimum next year.
ETA: eight rebounds is actually his career high. I want him to average that next year and I don't think that's too crazy.
I really like his future - you could tell that he was figuring it out and really listening and responding to Hodgson coaching him hard during the season.

Something to note. Bridges visited Bama as a HS recruit in September of 2019 according to @247Sports
Interesting, I didn't remember this.

Same - looks like he was recruited by Charlie Henry
This is from a story during his recruitment

Good omen on guys we missed in recruiting but got in the portal?

Alabama will also host five-star combo guard Nimari Burnett at the end of September.

For sure, just keep working hard in the weight room and improving your fundamentals of a big man. He always looks very engaged when Hodgson approaches him one on one during time outs - love that.
And also stop bringing the ball back down below your shoulders to get stripped when you're two feet from the basket. Just go right back up extended and dunk on those fools. If I would have had size like his back when I was younger I would've just dunked on every damn body I could.

He needs to get better as a rebounder, but he also just didn’t play that many minutes. 17.8 per game.
If you look at the per 40 minute stats, he basically led us in rebounding at 9.7 per game.
(Of the players that played any real minutes, he was tops).
Now you could easily argue that that’s still not quite good enough. For example, Walker Kessler averaged 12.6 per 40.
An interesting statistic would be to see how many minutes Bediako played in the last five minutes of non-blowouts. My sense is he barely played any of those minutes.
It seemed like that was the case because Oats wanted to switch everything on defense late in games and you can’t really do that with Bediako. But maybe it was more of an offensive issue.
Regardless, if he continues to improve we have to have him on the court more. Just may have to stop being so concerned with switching everything.

For some context, Bola averaged 16 boards per 40 for us in 2016-2017.

Strength should be his biggest focus. The improved rebounding will come with that.
I'm glad that I was wrong about Bediako last year. He is a hard worker and I think he will be a very good player next year. From the games I saw in person I liked his attitude and concentration levels as much as any player on the team. He is very mature for a freshman. I wish more of our guys carried themselves like he does.

Don't forget MarJon Beauchamp. There was a time that I was basically convinced we were going to sign all three.

Alabama Basketball Insider: Notes on transfers, 2022 prospects

Princeton PG transfer Jaelin Llewellyn. (Princeton Athletics)
The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball program signed a 2022 class that currently checks in at No. 7 nationally on the On3 2022 Consensus Basketball Team Recruiting Rankings.
Their class features five prospects, but it could receive a few more additions. Nate Oats and his coaching staff remain in pursuit of multiple players, including some targets in the transfer portal.
In the piece below, BCS provides the latest intel on the team’s pursuit of each prospect.
Jaelin Llewellyn, Point Guard — Princeton
Just over a week ago, the Crimson Tide played host to Jaelin Llewellyn for a visit. The returns on this trip have been positive from what we gathered.
We’re told that following his time in T-Town, Alabama feels confident in where things stand with Llewellyn. We also heard that there’s a chance Llewellyn will check out another school or two in the near future.
Another note is that five-star signee Brandon Miller spoke with the media about Llewellyn without name-dropping him. Miller says the coaches expressed optimism about how Llewellyn’s visit went, lining up with what we’ve been told.
With J.D. Davison’s future at Alabama still up in the air as he’s considering entering the 2022 NBA Draft and true freshmen Jaden Bradley coming in, the Crimson Tide can sell Llewellyn on an opportunity to be their starting point guard this season.
I feel confident in Alabama’s chances of landing Llewellyn at this time.
Last season, Llewellyn averaged 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 28 games. He shot 44.7 percent from the field and 38.6 percent from beyond the arc.
Llewellyn is one of Jamie Shaw’s top five point guards in the portal, so he’d be a big addition for Alabama. He’s in touch with over 20 programs, and you can read that full list HERE.
We’ve also heard that Alabama is in good shape with Mark Sears, a point guard in the transfer portal who previously played at Ohio University. Sears is expected to visit Alabama not this weekend, but the next.
We’re planning on doing a separate intel piece on Sears in the coming days, but he’s absolutely one to keep an eye on.
Jalen Bridges, Forward — West Virginia
According to a report by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, Bridges will visit Alabama very soon. Per Rothstein, Bridges will be at Alabama from April 15-17, then Baylor from April 18-19; Bridges wrapped up a trip to Ohio State last week.
We’re still gathering information here, but this is encouraging news for the Crimson Tide. On top of receiving the second visit from the former On3 Consensus four-star recruit, Nate Oats and Company will get him on campus for three days compared to his two-day stays at Baylor and Ohio State.
A trip to Michigan State is in the works, per Rothstein.
At West Virginia, Bridges started in 52 of the 61 games he played, including 33 last season. Bridges averaged 8.4 points per game on 42.8 percent from the field, while also collecting 4.8 rebounds per contest.
Fardaws Aimaq, Center — Utah Valley
Fardaws Aimaq has been a name brought up when discussing transfer portal options for Alabama. That’s for good reason as Aimaq averaged 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds for Utah Valley last season; he also shot an efficient 49 percent from the field.
We’ve been told, however, that the Crimson Tide are not likely to host Aimaq for a visit. As such, it’s been relayed to us that 6-foot-11 center isn’t an option that Alabama will make a big push for in the transfer portal.
We’ll see if any changes — such as Charles Bediako opting to surprise people and enter the NBA Draft — lead to a serious push by Alabama for Aimaq.
Notes on a couple of 2022 prospects
We wanted to reiterate that Alabama is not in the hunt for former LSU commit Julian Phillips. Phillips, a top-20 player in the Class of 2022, previously had the Crimson Tide in his top 10 before choosing the Tigers on Oct. 8; he reopened his recruitment on March 18 following the firing of LSU head coach Will Wade.
BCS reported over two weeks ago that Alabama will not make a push for Phillips. That was all but confirmed by Phillips last week in an interview with On3’s Jamie Shaw as the Crimson Tide were not mentioned when discussing his recruitment.
We’ll keep you all updated if anything changes, but Phillips-to-Tuscaloosa is very unlikely at this time.
One 2022 recruit that Alabama is indeed in the mix for is Leonard Miller. Miller told On3’s Joe Tipton last week that his top 10 consists of Alabama, Auburn, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Providence, Oklahoma State, TCU, Overtime Elite League and the NBA G-League.
Those last two options are pro options for the five-star recruit.
Miller had the following to say about the Crimson Tide when speaking with Tipton.
“I have talked with a couple of their coaches,” Miller said. “They expressed that going there would be great for them and a great fit and that the offer is on the table. They talked to me a little about how they play and how they will develop me.”
Alabama could make another cut for Miller if he ends up dropping another list, from what we’ve gathered. Our intel suggests it’s unlikely, however, that Miller ends up in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama would love to have him in the fold as Miller stands at 6-foot-10 with a 7-foot-3 wingspan and is averaging 32 points per game this season on 40 percent from three-point territory.
Stay tuned to BCS for more Alabama basketball recruiting coverage and join the conversation on the BCS Board.

Would Sears and Llewelyn both be takes?
I feel like with Sears ability to play some 2 it would be possible.

Isaiah Collier discusses the latest in his recruitment
Isaiah Collier, the current No. 22 overall prospect in the 2023 class, came away as one of the top performers at the USA Basketball Junior Mini Camp at the Final Four.
After setting the table for his teammates throughout the course of the scrimmage in front of a contingent of NBA personnel, he caught up with 247Sports to discuss the latest in his recruitment and who he would like to visit.
"It's going very good," he said of the recruiting process. "Taking it day by day and will make a decision by the end of this year after the summer."
Collier cut his list to seven schools including Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia, UCLA and USC but is also listening to schools outside of his top seven including Michigan.
At this moment, everyone is recruiting him hard but he does know who he would like to visit.
"Definitely west coast schools USC, UCLA, Auburn, Florida State and a couple others," he said.
On the two west coast schools, he shared his thoughts on why he'd like to venture to Los Angeles and meet with those staffs.
"That's where my family is from so that's why I want to visit out there," he said. "My mom was born out there."
Collier also mentioned that he still has family in Southern California.
On the other side of the country is Auburn, who has had tremendous success in recruiting the loaded Atlanta pipeline.
"I love how they let their guards play," he said of what stands out about the Tigers. "The system is really good."
Charlton 'CY' Young has been putting in work on Collier and is also setting up the Seminoles up for a future visit.
"I love the way their guards play," he said of Florida State. "A lot of big guards so I really like how Leonard Hamilton does things."
Michigan did not make his initial list cut but they have been showing interest and Collier is open to hearing from outside schools like the Wolverines.
"Definitely just playing my game really," he said of their pitch to him. "That's what they want me to come in and do. I love how they let their guards play and get everyone involved."
Georgia also made his list but with the recent coaching change they are now starting over from scratch.
"I talked to Mike White last week," he said. "We are getting to know each other again."
As of now, Collier still has not set up any visits but plans to following AAU season, he told 247Sports.
What is he looking for in a school?
"Definitely a brotherhood, someone who will let me play, development and definitely someone who can get me ready for what I want to do in life," said Collier.

What is the initial thought from people on Miller/Bradley being 1 and done? Is it expected regardless of season for either/both? Depend on season? Not really even been thought about?
Posted on 4/6/22 at 1:35 pm to SummerOfGeorge
Miller could be but Bradley won’t be
Posted on 4/6/22 at 1:39 pm to SummerOfGeorge
I think Miller is more likely to go pro even after an uninspiring freshman season, mostly because it seemed to come down to us and a couple of pro options at the end. Bradley is probably going to depend on how well he plays.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I envision as well. I think Miller is almost definitely going to be a one and done guy. I'm really hoping we can get Bradley for two years though.
