UNDEFEATED NEXT YEAR (I kid...unless)

If my math is correct that puts us at #3 overall on 247 (it will be #4 after Baldwin commits to Duke).

Eh....good pickup. Hope he proves me wrong

“The relationship with coach Oats is great," Bediako told 247Sports.com during the winter. "The entire coaching staff are great people. My guys Keon Ambrose and Josh Primo talk really highly about them, so that's one thing to consider. The message was that they're going to be limited on bigs next year so I can come in and fill that role. They say I run the floor well and they like to run fast and shoot threes. I'm starting to get more consistent on my shot. It's getting there so that adds to my game."
Hmmmm

Assuming you do a good job convincing kids to stay and grow and compete, I absolutely love the sweet spot we are hitting in recruiting right now.
Borderline 5-star guys, #25-50, who aren't quite skip to the NBA after a year ready but also maybe more importantly haven't been told for 2-3 years that they are skip to the NBA immediately guys and so they don't have that expectation seared into their brains. Pearl has always been very good at that, too.
Do that, sprinkle in a NBA lottery pick freshman every few years and do a solid job assessing the transfer market and you will have rosters that compete for championships year in and year out.

We'll be super deep again next year with great players coming off the bench. Its so refreshing

In fairness, he'll be the only true 5 guy on the roster. Of course, in Oats system, we don't need a ton of them.

I just watched my first highlight video of him, and he seems to move around pretty decently for a big man. Which is not a trivial thing.
I can’t get any real sense for him as an offensive player, but it probably won’t matter too much next year. How much he plays will probably depend more on how well he picks up the team defense concepts than on anything he does offensively.

It sounds like people think that he has the ability to be a jump shooter but that it just isn't something he's done much of so far. I'd assume he'll be on the KAH freshman plan of getting stronger and working on getting comfortable moving inside and outside.
Pretty nice to sign a Top 30 player and be totally content with him not playing much in year 1.

quote:Our post play is going to be the big question mark. Gary is a known commodity at this point, though a bit undersized. Which means we'll need heavy minutes from 2 of Tchikou, Bediako, KAH, Rojas and Wilson. If we could get Gurley for Rojas we'd be golden even if a couple of those guys didn't pan out.
Hmmmm

Oats is from Wisconsin and coached at Buffalo...is he a Maple Spy?
People are talking.

One of the main question with Oats was if he would be able to recruit at high level. I would say the answer is a resounding yes.
