Another guy we could take a look at is Desmond Cambridge from Nevada. Not sure if he's already been mentioned but he's an off guard that could provide some scoring and he's solid defensively. He could help us fill Shack's spot if he leaves. He is from Nashville though; so, he could look to move to Vandy or UT.

Agree but I think he wants to play with his brother and they are going to end up in the same place

Yeah, there was an article a few pages back where one of them said as much.

College basketball way-too-early Top 25 rankings for 2022-23

While the transfer portal is running wild and boatloads of draft decisions are still to come, we’re kicking off the offseason with our college basketball way-too-early Top 25 rankings for 2022-23. As always, things will change often, and we will be making consistent updates to reflect recent developments.

Before we begin, a couple of notes: First, we are generally assuming that seniors are departing despite the extra year of eligibility, unless otherwise noted. Additionally, most players who are top-40 draft prospects are also removed. Any fringe circumstances are likely covered in our team blurbs. Our rankings were made by a consensus vote from the Heat Check CBB staff.

Just like the rosters, these rankings will change frequently, but it’s always an enjoyable exercise to take an early (or way-too-early) look at the upcoming season.

8. Alabama Crimson Tide

Projected 2022-23 lineup: Jaden Bradley, Nimari Burnett, Brandon Miller, Noah Gurley, Charles Bediako

The 2021-22 campaign didn’t go the way Nate Oats had hoped, but the talent level in Tuscaloosa is still palpable. The nation’s No. 3 class enters, highlighted by a pair of five-stars in small forward Brandon Miller and point guard Jaden Bradley. The returning frontcourt duo of Noah Gurley and Charles Bediako will also be aided by top-60 recruit Noah Clowney and JUCO transfer Nick Pringle. Keep an eye on former Texas Tech guard Nimari Burnett, a top-30 2020 product who struggled with the Red Raiders but could shine once he fully recovers from a torn ACL. The Tide has Final Four potential if everything clicks.

That stinks.

Another guy I've been checking on is Joe Bamisile out of GW.
He's had one year at GW and is an off guard with some solid scoring capability. Another 6'4" guy that's not a primary ball handler but can score. He was at Virginia Tech prior to GW.

Oquendo is interesting but would need to improve defensively and take better care of the ball. He can score though.

Keeshawn Barthelemy, the point guard our of Colorado, just went into the portal. He could help us at PG and is out of Canada. He's got some solid numbers on both sides.

Yes. With Miller talking to Llewelyn and a long visit, I suspect Llewelyn is a big priority for us. We definitely need an experienced point guard. I am assuming as many are that JD will enter and stay in the draft.

Kinda plays like Llewellyn, but in a P-6 conference. Also has 2 years of remaining eligibility.

Watching him play and he looks solid. Not crazy about how Colorado runs their offense and uses their guards.
Think he could do even more in the right system.

Shoot, with that easy draw they got in the Dance and those 2 guys, I thought a Final Four was a given and a natty was a distinct possibility. I'm glad I was wrong.

BREAKING: ALL-Horizon league first team guard Tanner Holden just entered the transfer portal.

Holden was a big factor in helping Wright State get to the NCAA tournament his season. The 6’6” junior averaged 20.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game on 50% shooting.

Tanner Holden

- They only played 3 Top 100 teams this year, so tough to get a lot
- High usage rate (27.9), so have to take regular numbers with a grain of salt
- 108.2 offensive rating in the 3 Top 100 games
- 45.2 eFG% in the 3 Top 100 games (not great, but small sample size)
- 54.6 free throw rate in all games, 64.5 in top 100 games (gets the line a ton, good)
- 79% FT shooter all games, 90% in 3 top 100 games (18/20)
- shot the 3 well his freshman year (13/29, 45%) but has just been average since (27/87, 31%)

Seems like there are better options already in the portal and probably more to come too.

I'm trying to stay patient, but I also want something to happen.

I actually think he would be a good fill for Shack. He's athletic, aggressive, and works well as an off guard. He's a scorer and gives us some better length at the 2 spot. He looks like a better defender and rebounder too. And he's a lefty if it matters.

I like Reeves here too but Holden actually has comparable or better numbers against similar competition.

He would be a pretty weird replacement for Shack. Shack is a high-volume sharpshooter. Tanner Holden is the opposite. The dude takes just 1 attempt from 3 a game. That's absurdly low for a guard with his usage.
