That was a nice consolation prize.

Auburn had been playing more like an 8 seed since the beginning of February

The IARP neglected to ban Auburn from the postseason. Instead, Auburn banned itself from the SEC tournament semifinals as a 1 seed and the NCAA Sweet 16 as a 2 seed. Went 1-2 in the postseason. Hm.

Now I can watch the rest of the tournament with less anxiety. Lol Auburns big season ends with a second round loss along with an early exit from the SECT.

Auburn’s home court advantage almost guarantees wins in AU arena. That plus Green and Johnson playing over their heads for a long stretch of the year coupled with what I would think is the best front court in basketball led to a tons of wins until they started playing poorly as a unit in February.

Wasn’t Auburn talking major trash to the media before this game?

In a way, an AU national championship basketball championship would be worse than their winning just their 3rd football national championship.

I hope Nimari is the dude next year. It seems like guys who miss a season with an injury or other issue tend to come back with a big chip on their shoulder (Gary and JQ last year, Rojas this year).

It certainly looked like Pearl lost control of his team in February and March. Wrong guys taking the wrong shots, not passing, team going through long stretches of in-game dysfunction. Lost composure at the end tonight. Quit on the court.

If you recall, during their Final Four run, they should have and could have lost the first round game to New Mexico State.
Auburn had a 2 point lead and fouled a guy shooting a 3 pointer with 1 second to go.
Ended up only making 1 of 3 free throws to lose by 1 to AU.
