Is Emoni Bates to Memphis actually going to happen?

Him reclassifying is weird. Wherever he goes, he’s gotta spend 2 years there.

Yeah but NIL money will make 2 years in college more lucrative for a guy like that than 1 in high school and 1 in the G-League or overseas. I bet we will start seeing a bunch of the top 5 type recruits do this.

I still just don't get the appeal of Memphis. Like, does Bates really need the money Penny is arranging for him to be paid? frick no. He will make that and then some in endorsements. So why go play for a dude who has proven he can't coach or develop players when you could go play for Izzo.

Things seem to be pointing that way since some believe he is a package deal with Jalen Duren and that is the common overlap school.

So if Penny has Bates and Duren on the same team how far does he need to go to keep his job? I'd say anything less than the Sweet 16 should get him fired considering how terrible he has been so far.

Isn't Larry Brown on his staff now? I have a feeling Brown will be doing most of the actual coaching.

Yeah but he's in his 80s now. I'm sure he will help, but I can't imagine him doing the bulk of the coaching.

Penny isn't getting fired, no matter what happens this season.
