The rumor is that dad blames Oats for some of the concerns raised in Shack's draft feedback, so I don't necessarily think it's something that has always been an issue. Shack scored a lot of points and took a lot of shots the last couple of years. If his dad really is a crazy stage parent I can see where that would have made him happy and there was no problem, but when the draft feedback was negative things took a sudden turn.

I'm not going to attack the dad too much because I still think it's mostly a rumor but it's pretty clear what Shack has to work on to get to the next level. I hope a helicopter parent doesn't ruin his playing career, his best shot is continuing to play under Oats.

The rumor from "insiders" when he first entered the portal was that he was transferring to UCLA to be closer to home, when that didnt happen it turned to his dad didnt think we were using him right, who knows what the actual story is. Oats wants him back regardless of whatever it is, that's pretty obvious.

I think the dad thing is pretty rock solid at this point. The specific reasons, Shack's feelings on it all, etc? Not sure, but I think his dad definitely was pushing a new destination. A quick scan of his dad online (plus some of the comments mentioned earlier when Shack signed) show that he is a self-proclaimed "basketball teacher", so I'm guessing he has a very specific idea of what his son is as a player and how he should be used.

Either way, I hope it all works out for everyone. I'd love to get Shack back.

If you make a timeline right now of the events that have happened with him over the past month, the dad rumor makes the most sense. I think he'll be back. I'm glad we're holding on to an experienced player and someone already to be a proven scorer at this level but I'm not going to take back what I've said just because he's sticking around. I hope he keeps developing here and doesn't have too many people in his ear.

I don't think there's a specific deadline or anything, he may still even be enrolled, but I think this gets wrapped up sooner rather than later.

For some fun news, I just returned from Tuscaloosa over the weekend. Outside of feeling double my age, I did get a nice Bama Basketball button-down for this next season. Also forgot how expensive The Shirt Shop can be.

Oh for sure, it's Peter Millar brand as well so it feels really comfortable. Opening night outfit.

I wish I could find something similar to the Swinging Elephant Club logo, except the basketball instead of the golf club. I'm not the biggest graphic t-shirt guy but I would get one if it didn't come as a polo or pullover.

It’s hard to tell whats true and whats not. A tweet about Shack not being in the 247 portal has spiraled into some insiders saying he isn't in the actual portal anymore, and I am pretty sure he still is. I just hope Shack announces one way or the other soon.

I generally don't trust the portal stuff unless it's from someone concrete who actually has access to the literal portal itself.

Assuming the rumors have at least some truth to them, i'd love to know what his father's expectations were regarding draft feedback.

It doesn't take an NBA level scout or front office member to look at Shack's overall game and come to the conclusion that he is not NBA ready right now. That is not intended to disrespect Shack either, but what unbiased person out there disagrees?

The draft feedback this year was always going to be constructive criticism for Shack. It was supposed to be a tool that helped him understand where he currently stands relative to his dream and show him an avenue of how to potentially reach it.

True. Cecil retweeted Jaden's post about wanting to play bball soon and subtweeted it with "descision soon?" so I take that as a pretty good sign, if anyone knows anything about it outside of the program it's probably Cecil.

It looks like Cockburn is staying at Illinois and Obanor is going to TT, so that would be great news for us, if both of those things happen I feel like we can still win the SEC now even if we don't get Shack back.
If we get him back that would be icing on the cake.

I think it's as simple as "he scored a lot of points and therefore he should be in the NBA because he's a good player and that's where good players end up."

However, Luka Garza is one of the most decorated college basketball players in the history of the sport and probably will not hear his name called on draft night. And he is just one of many examples of great college players who are either too small or too slow to make it in the NBA. There's no shame in that though. Those things are outside of anyone's control. And it's not 1993 anymore. Basketball is a global sport these days. You can have an extremely lucrative career overseas.

Some players it takes 4 years to get where they are skilled enough to make the NBA, Herb was far from ready after his sophmore season but he kept improving the things he wasnt good at and now is gonna be drafted.

Some of these kids and their parents just need to be patient, transferring isn't gonna fix your problems, when you are already at a big name school, in an NBA style offense, and taking the most shots on the team. I know shack and his dad work really had on his training, just keep it up.

It’s the Nick Smith Jr. show today for @BradBealElite. He’s got 18 points on 7/8 shooting with another quarter and change remaining in this Peach Jam Day Two matchup.

Slater is saying that UK is intentionally leaking that they are heavily pursuing a Jalen Duren reclass because they know they aren't getting Kofi and are trying to mitigate a poor public perception of missing on Kofi.

ETA: Also says that UK getting Duren isn't a lock with a palm tree emoji. Miami maybe?

Duren got some futurecasts for Memphis recently, which was surprising to me, I thought he was gonna go straight to a pro league.

You're surprised that he's doing exactly what you expected?

30-point outing for Nick Smith Jr. who is playing in just his second week of game action after returning from an injury. The five-star prospect was a vital part of @BradBealElite’s major victory today. Shot the ball very well, made 65% of his shot attempts.
