Wonder who Tech goes after now? There is a chance we’ll play them in the SEC/B12 challenge isn’t there?

I mean he's a Texas alum and I'm sure it's his dream job. Good luck to him though because he's going to need it. Texas thinks they're Alabama in football and Kansas in basketball, and anyone who doesn't meet those standards will be fired in a hurry.

Yep - no shortage of them either. Some guys who have done great jobs building programs from those 2 trees.

Golding took over Abilene right before they moved from D2 to D1 and look at their rise since Year 1

2014 - 11-20 (KP #348)
2015 - 10-21 (#342)
2016 - 13-18 (#317)
2017 - 13-16 (#298)
2018 - 16-16 (#262)
2019 - 27-7 (#152)
2020 - 20-11 (#184)
2021 - 24-5 (#85)

Mills similar at Oral Roberts. They went 8-22 and were #236 the year before he got there.

2018 - 11-21 (#236)
2019 - 11-21 (#290)
2020 - 17-14 (#135)
2021 - 18-11 (#126)

And McCasland similar at North Texas. They went 8-22 and were #320 the year before he got there.

2018 - 20-18 (#146)
2019 - 21-12 (#158)
2020 - 20-11 (#77)
2021 - 18-10 (#74)

I think so, not by a large margin but still beard with more resources is scary

Texas boosters will probably mess it up tho in a few years

Not sure it matters a ton but Texas is also about to move into that new $400M new arena.

Damn, I had never seen renderings of that thing before. That's a nice set up.

No reason for Beard not to have huge success there.

Besides the whole Texas boosters meddling and screwing things up, I guess

I don't think additional resources or fancier facilities are going to do much for Beard. His style is what it is. Highly effective, but not super appealing to recruits. Same deal as Tony Bennett. They're going to sign a bunch of solid 3-4 year type guys plus the occasional 1-2 year player.

Texas needs someone to do what Saban did here and tell everyone to GTFO I’m gonna do it my way.

I think we will get Kansas, Baylor or WVU this year in the Big12 challenge. Probably not Kansas cause we might play them in Orlando

The options, as far as I can tell if they keep the same format, are

- Oklahoma State
- Texas (depending on how they view the cancelled game as a home/away)
- Baylor
- West Virginia

We are due a home game and OSU, WVU and Baylor are due road games. My guess would be we get Baylor.

Due Home Games
- Alabama
- Florida
- Georgia slots in for Auburn
- Ole Miss slots in for A&M

- Iowa State
- Kansas
- Texas Tech
- TCU
- Texas?

I don't think that's possible at Texas. For every 1 entitled, big money booster at 99% of universities, Texas has 25. You can control 40-50 troublemakers. You can't control 1500 of them.

Baylor seems most likely. That would be a fun game in Coleman. Would prefer them or WVU. Not really sure why though

Only jobs out there that worry me is Duke and UK. Duke doesn't seem like an Oats program, and UK will hopefully find another Italian American coach from northeast to fall in love with when the time comes.

Yea, I don't see Duke as a fit.

The ones that would worry me are

- Kentucky (just because it's Kentucky)
- Michigan State
- Syracuse (maybe)
- NBA

I just don't really see any other jobs that smack me in the face as "oh shite he might take that".

Now, the obvious followup here is........we have to keep winning. All of that worry about losing our coach won't matter if we go 22-14 next year and are a #10 seed and then kind of limp down that path after.
