His career will likely be overseas. He's not big enough to play the kind of game he's best at in the NBA.

Hawks winning this series, if Giannis isn't coming back. This is the most injury-plague playoffs I've ever seen.

Penny has found someone who can coach for him.
Brown left KU and UCLA on probation if I recall correctly.

He also got into a bunch of shite at SMU. He's extremely shady and shouldn't be allowed to coach amateur athletes, so he's a great fit for Penny's staff.

The entire Shack situation seems bizarre to me. If he returns, he’s going to be one of the more experienced players on the team. He led the team in scoring last year and is primed to make a big impact on a high profile team next year. Oats added some great guards this off-season from HS and the portal, but Shack seems guaranteed to have plenty of opportunities and playing time this season. Experience can outweigh talent, especially early in the season. Unless the staff has suggested otherwise, he would be a key player this year with a lot of upside.
What am I missing? What possible benefit would he find in transferring? More playing time? Marginally, at best. Higher profile team? Not likely. Better group to play with and around? Again, not likely. We know he likes to take his shots, and the system allows him to do that. I can’t find a single reason to suggest that he would be better off somewhere else next year.
I get that some “insiders” seem to think he’s leaving, but why?

I haven't seen any actual insiders who cover Alabama say that he is leaving, I have seen some say they think he is coming back.

Yeah because all of our paid insiders don’t leak anything. At least not for basketball

This is a guy that posts on BOL though right? Not someone who works for Bamaonline.
I know the guy could possibly be right and have some sources even if he doesn't work for BOL.

The top 25 men's basketball recruits regardless of class
quote:
2. C Jalen Duren
6-foot-10, 245 pounds
Montverde Academy (Florida)
2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 2
Duren has an NBA-ready frame with a physically imposing stature and a 7-foot-3 wingspan. His hands and nimble footwork are most impressive; he is a polished passer whether he faces up or whether his back is toward the basket. He has developed his handle, while his go-to mid-post jump shot also provides more upside. Duren recently visited Kentucky and Memphis, though he also made an official visit to Miami, where his former club coach, DJ Irving, is now on staff.
quote:
7. SG Jazian Gortman
6-foot-2, 175 pounds
W. J. Keenan High School (South Carolina)
2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 7
Gortman utilizes a crafty floater in addition to a three-level scoring punch. He understands how to find an open pocket of space to create for himself. A harassing defender with a quick hands, lateral quickness and a strong stance, Gortman plays with joy and brings energy to the game. NC State, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas, Kansas, Clemson, Miami and Florida are among the many schools pursuing him.
quote:
8. SF Shaedon Sharpe
6-foot-5, 195 pounds
Dream City Christian School (Arizona)
2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 8
An elite scoring off-guard with a combination of burst, fluidity and touch as a three-level scorer, Sharpe continues to rise because of his two-way trajectory, advanced offensive skill set and a high ceiling defensively. Arizona and Kentucky are out in front in his recruitment.
quote:
9. SF Brandon Miller
6-foot-7, 190 pounds
Cane Ridge High School (Tennessee)
2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 9
Miller is best at getting to the rim and using his length to finish through and over defenders. He is a multi-positional defender whose skill set is just emerging. Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee are heavily in pursuit, with Alabama garnering some momentum.
quote:
23. PG Jaden Bradley
6-foot-2, 180 pounds
IMG Academy (Florida)
2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 14
Bradley is a conventional point guard who relishes his role as a coach on the floor. He is a pass-first point guard but does not only pass. He has terrific size for his position, and the fact he has increased his overall strength gets him almost anywhere off the dribble. Bradley is a high-level playmaker, strong decision maker and leads his teammates to other scoring opportunities. He has visited Arizona, Alabama, Michigan and UNC.

Honorable mentions: PF Jarace Walker (2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 16), SF M.J. Rice (2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 17), PF Kijani Wright (2022 ESPN 100 ranking: 18), PF Ron Holland (2023 ESPN 60 ranking: 10), SF Naasir Cunningham (2024 ESPN 25 ranking: 2)

I wonder if the guy Oats has “waiting in the wings” is someone from Buffalo?
I would take Jeenathan Williams or Segu in a heartbeat

I'd be beyond thrilled with a class of Bradley, Miller, Rodney Rice, and 2-3 portal/JuCo guys.
Posted on 6/30/21 at 10:18 am to CaptainMorgan
Is it possible that he seriously wants more freedom to take mid-range shots? Given his size a 6-8ft floater would be much easier than being expected to get to the rim.

Shack's game is secondary ball handler + spot up 3pt shooter, not floaters, runners, pull up jumpers, etc. He's actually a great fit for this system provided the primary ball handler is a guy who is going to force the defense to abandon their passing and driving lanes. Shack was a more efficient player on offense as a freshman in large part because he was able to take advantage of the chaos Kira was able to create by drawing all the defensive attention to himself. Shack isn't a good enough athlete or slick enough ball handler to consistently get his own shot and I think he'd struggle a lot in systems where hero ball is the norm.

What about Keith Williams, just entered portal? He's leading scorer at Cincinnati,6'5" 215, from Brooklyn New York so likely Hodgson and Oats know about him. That being said. I hope Shack comes back. Does portal close at midnight tonight? Shack is not in it yet.
