Alabama and Georgia just offered Top-50 sophomore Marvel Allen, he told @Stockrisers. Very talented prospect, has heard from many programs since the start of contact period.

I can't believe I let myself get so overconfident heading into a S16 matchup with UCLA.

It's understandable. They kept doing not Alabama basketball things, so after a while I think many of us fell into the trap of not expecting Alabama basketball things. And losing to an 11 seed UCLA as a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament is peak Alabama basketball. Seriously, if that had been someone like Colorado or FSU that has no real basketball tradition to speak of, we win that game. Hell, stick UCLA in Colorado jerseys and we win that game. Nothing can convince me otherwise. It's the same principle that has caused us to lose like 14 SECT games in a row to Kentucky. It's why we were all terrified of playing a shitty UCONN in the second round. We shite the bed against blue bloods in big games like clockwork.

I still don’t know why Nate put the ball Herbs hands on that last possession in regulation(other than Reese 3). It should have been in Quinerlys. Love Herb but I just don’t understand why Nate kept putting the ball in his hands late in games.

On the one hand, Herb was never good enough around the basket or at the FT line to be truly reliable in those situations, but on the other hand I really can't bring myself to fault a coach for putting the ball in his senior team captain's hands with the season on the line.

I would disagree with it working most of the time (or even half the time), but yes he ended the LSU game with a couple great plays.

he Arkansas game was the worst example of it not working when Herb started the game at point guard and had 3 charging fouls before I got seated. Arky had been practicing the flop for that game, and one SEC ref bought it hook, line and sinker. It didnt take a brain surgeon to scout what he was going to do with the ball though.

I think what I'm most excited about this year is not having to try and watch Petty and Herb be primary ballhandlers for stretches each game. Love Petty's shooting and Herb's defense but they should not have been trying to run an offense. This year we have a handful of guys that I would trust late in games.

WKU: didn’t work...He missed a WIDE OPEN layup

Mizzou game: Did it twice and didn’t work.

Tennessee game in SEC Tournament: didn’t work and was lucky UT freshman missed 2FTs on other end.

UCLA: didn’t work and then he missed 2 FTs.

I love Herb but it just wasn’t his strong suit. I think we will be much better in those situations this year with the ball in either JQ or JDs hands

the mizzou game he was clearly fouled on a no call. we won the tenn game and herb had 20, 13, and 4 assists. with ucla it did technically work. we got what we wanted. he sadly just missed the fts. he shouldnt be grilled for that.

It’s going to be amazing having a full squad of guys who are good at every part of basketball. I’m sick of the specialists who excel at one thing, but stink at everything else….

Herb: defense only
Bola: rebounding only, sort of
Petty: shooting only (once every 8 or 9 games)
Avery Jr: posting up at half court
Donta Hall: blocks as the help side defender
