Question about class and eligibility. Is a guy like Shack going to be considered a sophomore or a junior? He would obviously be a junior normally, but the extra year of eligibility due to covid has changed some things this year. I think it has gotten to a point where i've read so many things on the topic that i've almost confused myself as to how all of this is actually going to work out.

Despite our poor performance last Sunday night, proud of our guys for all they accomplished this season.
Yep. It was a great, really fun season. Didn't work out like we'd hoped. And I can't say it is the best Bama team ever. If we won our region, it would've been hard to argue otherwise. But still great.
Beyond being a fan, I really wanted a final 4 run, for the momentum it would've provided towards improving the basketball facilities. A final 4 would've been next level for increased support. We have momentum. But I wanted an Atlas sized boulder rolling down Everest kinda momentum.

Can you add Jayden Gardner from ECU to that?

Just talked to someone close to the program. Got confirmation we are not recruiting Noah Locke.

Aren't they essentially allowing everyone a 2nd redshirt year if they choose? As far as the sports classification, wouldn't they all remain the same class moving forward. So, Jaden would be a 3rd year sophomore?
Who knows though? It's all a mess.

So, interestingly enough.........I thought through what we were all thinking might be an area we'd want out of the portal. The first thing that came to mind was another big that we could trust to bang a little, but one that fit out style of play and could shoot.
So I went into Torvik and put in the following qualifiers.
- in the transfer portal
- at least 6-7
- at least 5 games vs Top 150 teams
- at least 30% from 3 PT on at least 10 attempts
- at least 60% from close 2 PT
- at least 65% from FT
And one of the 7 names that popped up? Noah Gurley from Furman.

This season was a HUGE success. Before the season, nobody (unless you were a huge homer of course
) expected us to win all of the SEC regular, SEC tourney and make it to the Sweet 16 in year 2.
It sucks we missed so many free throws as we no doubt would have won, but it happened. We had some bad breaks go against us too, like the ball under Petty's leg and the missed foul calls (but with the way we were missing FT's, it might not have mattered anyways) at the end of the game.
The season was such a fun success. Hopefully the missed free throws can be used as motivation to come back stronger than ever next season. They know they were on the verge of a Final Four.

Jeriah Horne from Colorado is a pretty intriguing grad transfer, too. Would be his 4th school - started Nebraska, then Tulsa, then Colorado

Like I said yesterday, I'm just not sold on Burnett.
Depending on what Q does, I'd probably go with a big.
I think I'd rather go with a plug and play transfer over Bediako too.
We will probably only have JD one year and will most likely lose others after next season. Need someone who can immediately contribute.

Again, see above. We lost because we stunk from the FT line. No one to blame but ourselves.
Sure. But you also have a lot more room for error if you're not playing one of the best/hottest teams in the country.
Sure, Bama has only themselves to blame for the loss. But getting lucky and having that performance against a UCLA team that was playing like the play in team they were a month ago would have been nice. Instead, we got Final Four UCLA for our stinker performance.
Irrelevant. Play-in UCLA would have lost along the way and we'd have gotten another team playing well. You don't get to shoot that badly from the FT line in the Sweet 16 and live to tell about it.
We were never a great FT shooting team...only decent at best. We were 135th in the nation and 6th in the SEC. To be really good, are we willing to spend all the extra time in the gym, like Minkah spent in the film room?
135th nationally and 6th in the SEC isn't something to be even remotely content with if you want to be a Final Four team. Every returning player needs to shoot an extra 100 a day next year.

I think we'll be a better FT shooting team next year
4 of our 6 worst FT shooters against Top 100 teams will be gone - Herb (72%), Bruner (62%), Reese (58%) and Rojas (57%).
We return
- Miles (83%)
- Shack (80%)
- Primo (74%)
- Ellis (74%)
- JQ (67%)
- Gary (56%)
I think Ellis and Primo will be better as they play more.Davison wasn't a great FT shooter in high school - 65% as a SR and 71% as a JR.

Yes, because logic says that every team in the sweet sixteen would have played well enough to beat us. Weird how that same logic didn't apply to Bama. We had a subpar game, but somehow made it there.
I'm not going to keep arguing this point because it doesn't matter. We didn't play well, and we lost fair and square in OT. I know some of you guys are attached to your broad, sweeping generalizations, so let's just move on.
