No, we can cope with a scoring guard injury. We can’t afford to lose anyone in the frontcourt.

I think what bothers me the most about his injury is we were finally putting together a somewhat lengthy backcourt group option defensively.

Ok….according to the discord Tim Watts said December return.

And Mac said Amari Allen has been so good he was already gonna start over Bethea.

So I’m guessing the starting 5 will be:

Philon
Wrightsell
Allen
TBB
Sherrell

I want Wrightsell to be great but I’m skeptical to have him projected a starter, especially early in the season.

I don’t think Allen was going to start over Bethea. But if Mac thinks it was even close then that’s a good sign for him

Bethea getting hurt puts a damper on my trip to NYC for the St John’s game :(

St John’s game at 11am. Thank God. Didn’t want it the same time as the LSU game

Waldrop is a great doctor, if anyone can get Bethea healthy quickly, he can. Waldrop worked on my right ankle a few years ago. Need to have him do my left one too.

This, 100%.

Mistaken’s lineup or put Mallette in for Allen would be fine, but I may melt hard if CPA’s lineup is our starting lineup in January (not so much about the starting lineup but who is out there for the majority of minutes in big games and at the end of games).

Philon
Wrightsell Jr (If he's ready Mentally)
Mallette
TBB
Sherrell

If Wrightsell isn't there then I fully expect it to be Biz!

Trelly has looked good though!!

I'm not worried about having Biz out there a bunch. Most teams have at least one guard at or near 6'0". The problem last year is our two most reliable shooters were BOTH short, so when they played together either one or both were guarding (and being harried by) someone half a foot taller.

You've had some damn good takes the last couple of pages. I couldn't agree more. We've actually been short at guard the last couple years. Estrada is only 6 to 6-1. And while I'd love for a 6-4 Philon to be our shortest guy on the court, having him with Aden is nothing like having a dude who's 5-10. Especially with how we rotate.

Now if we get a front court injury, I might kick a puppy.

I mean having surgery and missing time for a broken Pinky Toe is kinda weak.

That thing must have been majorly broken

If it’s off his drive foot that would be extremely impeding. Mimic doing a jab step drive or really any explosive drive and you can see your pinky toe is doing some work there as you push off the outside of your foot.

We need to restrict Wrightsell's minutes regardless of him being physically/mentally ready until tournament time. He has a very significant injury history and we need to not rely on him playing big minutes early. This protects him for the season, but also makes us less reliant on him in the case he does go down again.

My prediction based on what we've heard...

G - Philon
G - Aden
F - Allen
F - TBB
C - Sherrell

6 - Mallette
7 - Wrightsell
8 - Bristow
9 - Jemison

I don't think it's outlandish for people to think Bethea wouldn't start, because in all likelihood one of Aden/Bethea would likely need to come off the bench regardless. I think the part that hurts most is Aden and Bethea were kind of the de facto ball-handlers for when Philon wasn't on the floor. Philon already slated for major minutes and now Aden for better or worse is almost guaranteed to be top 2 in minutes played until Bethea gets back. Sick of losing key pieces early in the season/pre-season.

Can't even blame the training staff. Broken pinky toe in basketball is just rotten luck.

I fractured by 5th metatarsal (Jones fracture) playing basketball in school. Swelling was crazy but it healed on its own in about 8 weeks.

That's a common injury in basketball; I'd be surprised if it was the toe itself unless it was a non-basketball injury.
