I just hope Philon is all bought in

Well, if the report on the previous page is true and his interviews tanked him then I imagine that the maturity and buy in will be a thing he’s focused on. This will be a good experience to say “ok why did I go from being mocked as a borderline lottery guy to borderline 2nd round” and it’s really just consistency.
But he was pretty bought in last year. Accepted being a bench or starting guy. He and Holloway are very tight. I think we see a lot of 3 guard lineups with those 2 and Bethea

I would think he would be fully committed to elevating his draft stock. This may be the first case of the draft actually helping us keep a player. He stayed in the draft process so long and had made clear he was done with college, I think it probably kept us out of a college bidding war to keep him from transferring.

Why do idiots like you post such mental midget level post?

So are we set or can we add a forward?
Philon (30 min/g)
Wrightsell (20)
Bethea (20)
Bol Bowen (25)
Williamson (20)
Holloway (25)
Mallette (15)
Sherrell (15)
Jemison (10)
Bristow (10)
Allen (5)
Hannah (5)

I think Sherrell is starting over Williamson and Sherrell is definitely playing over 15 minutes a game

Jemison and Sherrell, especially Sherrell, are gonna play way more.
Sherrell will start and be one of the best 5s in the SEC. He shot 47% from 3 in SEC play showed elite signs and improvement later in the year. Oats honestly should have been playing him more

I don't see either Sherrell or Williamson playing more than Bediako and Cliff did from a minutes standpoint. The 5 spot is tough, especially in an up-tempo system and especially in our league.
You can probably flip Sherrell and Williamson on my list. I put Williamson in the starting 5 because he seems more fluid to me, but I like Sherrell too.

His minutes will come down to rim protection. Sherrell's potential offensively isn't in question, but he has to be a very reliable rim protector. He made good strides late in the year but if you drag him away from the basket (high ball screens and dribble hand offs) he struggles to recover. That's not being overly critical, it's just the reality of what I interpreted as his greatest weakness last year and a big part of why his minutes were what they were.
And that's not to say he won't, Bediako made huge strides defensively in his 2nd year and really became the best defensive center in the SEC by the time conference play began his sophomore year. He absolutely humiliated the returning NCAA player of the year and from that point it was on.

i still wouldnt mind another 4/5 type to come in and start cracking skulls for when we get our 40th foul at auburn in the first half.

Feel the same way. Maybe just a big 3 / Hybrid 4 (I say this as if they are readily available and we just go an take one off the tree) . Nelson and Mo gave us good toughness when we needed it and they also could get downhill with the ball when teams were selling out on the perimeter defense. Looking at the roster we have now, im not sure who assumes that role.

i thought particularly in the duke game when he came in and immediately hit two 3's to rescue us that oats shouldve stuck with him more. i get why he didnt but still was cool to see a freshman step up like that in the biggest game of his life. i think it will be sherrells to lose while williamson is a solid insurance policy in case it doesnt yet pan out.

as far as getting downhill bristow and when jemison plays there can do that pretty well. both are good athletes with length so maybe they can provide something similar on D? i have big expectations for bowens ability to cover rotations but i dont know how good his handles are yet, but yea another bruiser mo type who can atleast come in and provide toughness for certain situations would be nice.

London Jemison & Keitenn Bristow will play and I'm also tempted to put Amari Allen in the conversation as well.
Allen shot the three ball good in highschool. He's 6'5...extremely athletic so he has a ton of potential.
Reminds me a lot of Rylan Griffen!
This is fixing to be a fun off season.

Philon back completely changes the roster IMHO
100%.
The SEC is going to be absolutely stacked with guys like Oweh coming back but our roster is now nationally competitive again.
