Dior Johnson dropping his final 4 tomorrow. I know we have been recruiting him, but I don’t know how hard. Any idea if we make that list? Dude can flat out ball

I hope we do. Wouldn't be surprised if the G League was in his top four. Really curious to see if Syracuse is still in there.

The 247 LSU guy made it a 10 of 10 lock prediction 1.5 years ago. That's pretty absurd to call anyone a lock in CBB that early, even if their dad is the coach.

Yeah, but that was way back when everyone knew he was going to Syracuse. He committed like a month later, but decomitted back around the start of the season last year.

Seems like Dior Johnson will now have a final 5 instead of a final 4.

All from Jeff Goodman.

Speaking of Goodman, how do we like his transfer rankings?

I think both of ours are extremely low. Burnett is at 41 and Gurley is 71. How Kessler is his 5th ranked transfer and Burnett is his 41st ranked transfer shows a complete lack of consistency in his ranking criteria.

Thursday's announcement is headlined by the ESPN Events Invitational, which will take place during ESPN's Feast Week in late November. Its field is led by preseason top-10 teams Alabama and Kansas, along with potential top-25 team Belmont. Drake, Iona and North Texas -- all NCAA tournament teams last season -- will also play in the event.

Posted on the last page if you are interested to see what a few folks said about it. I'm excited for it and i'm going to try and make it over there for the games, but the dates that close to Thanksgiving might make it tough for me.

I’m sure Bruce will get the most out of him but in general I have thought the hype for Kessler was too high.

#1 Ranked PG.

Kessler didn't get a lot of minutes but when he did he looked good. He played over 20 minutes in two games and in those two games he got

20 pts, 8 rebs. 4 blocks vs FSU (played 24 minutes)

16 points, 12 rebs, 8 blocks vs Notre Dame (played 21 minutes)

So I can definitely see why there is hype and I think its justified personally.

I don't like that there is a professional league in his top 5, its the same league RJ Hampton went to.

Great we made his top 5 but seems like a good chance he doesn't go to college.

Head Coach Nate Oats Comments

"We are excited for the opportunity to play in the ESPN Events Invitational next season. From top to bottom, this is a loaded field and will have some great opportunities early in the season to face some high-quality competition. It will give us a chance to find out early what areas we need to grow while providing some great entertainment for fans. Our fans are terrific and were tremendous in showing their support as much as they could this past season. We would love to have our fans come in-person to support us and enjoy some great basketball over Thanksgiving week. It should be a lot of fun."

Field Highlights

*Five of the eight teams in the field reached the 2021 NCAA Tournament: Alabama (Sweet 16), Kansas and North Texas (second round), as well as Drake and Iona
*Dayton played in the 2021 National Invitation Tournament
*Three of the eight teams are ranked in the ESPN.com's "Way Too Early Top 25." No. 5 Kansas, No. 8 Alabama and No. 23 Belmont
*Maryland won the most recent invitational in 2019. Previous winners include Villanova in 2018, West Virginia in 2017, Gonzaga in 2016, 2012 and 2008, Xavier in 2015, Kansas in 2014, Memphis in 2013, Dayton in 2011, Notre Dame in 2010, Florida State in 2009, NC State in 2007 and Arkansas in 2006

Fruitless exercise.. I think all 5 of those teams are on the same general vicinity on paper, just depends how it comes together on the court. Anyone’s guess.
