Pringle sucked at South Carolina too.

Just not sure we wanted Pierre after Bethea committed. We already have a TON of 2/3 types on the roster. Probably not room for another unless it were a guy projected to be a star at this level for a non-ridiculous price. What we need is a PG (Philon or a replacement) and a big guy. A guy with good sources on TI says we're looking at a 3/4 swing forward type, but no names were mentioned. We really need more help in the post.

Not sure why we didn’t go after Pringle. Our two centers aren’t very good rebounders and we need a rebounding big.

I think the incoming center transfer was considered an elite defensive rebounder this past season...

lower level ball but a lot of what it takes to rebound well is positioning and technique on the box out...I suspect he'll rebound well here.

So, just saw a video on Nikola Jokic. And it included a screenshot of his rivals recruiting ranking, and it showed him as having signed with Alabama.

Did I miss something? Was Avery recruiting him before he decided to skip college and go to the NBA?

No one have any info on this?

Only thing I could find was Jokic saying he didn’t want to play college because the players were to athletic and too much running

Probably for the best if I don’t know If that was even remotely possible.

Jokic's draft was a year before Avery was hired, but maybe Grant missing out on top international prospects too lol.

Probably for the same reasons we let/encouraged him to transfer the first time. I'm not sure why our fans keep clamoring for non-shooting tweeners. Have y'all seen Oats' system?

Another SG yay. Maybe if we get enough of them we can teach one to run point.

No doubt. I'm just saying we have 3 open spots by all accounts. We definitely need a PG and another forward. If we bring in this kid and Rylan how do the numbers work out?

Sounds like Barrington Hargress, the PG from UC-Riverside, might be one to watch. He's only 6', but at this stage in the process, beggars can't be choosers if we can get a 20 ppg scorer.

I've actually watched Hargress play a few times since I'm a fan of UC-San Diego so tend to watch some Big West games late night.

He's a complete point guard in terms of handling, creating off the dribble and passing and can also shoot the three.

He's not big though. Probably quicker than Sears but about the same size. On thing I liked -- or hated against UC-SD -- is that he was a steal machine for Riverside.

Hope he plays better defense than Sears. Not a big fan of having two small guards. Maybe it’ll cancel out with us having a lot of length on the wings.

I also like that his assist-to-turnover rate is solid. Better than 2:1 both years with 2 years of eligibility left. His shooting percentage also increased both years. His 3% is up around 33% now and FT% is up to 73%. Hopefully, we could get it into the high 30s and closer to 80% if he came our way.

There’s one more center who would be a good fit for us. His name Joshua Ojianwuna. Tall kid that can run the floor. Very good rebounder and even better shot blocker. Hopefully the staff will give him a look.

I think Oats not overstressing about adding a traditional “point guard” backs up what I said several pages back about us playing positionless and that any ball handler can bring it up because we don’t run plays like the 90s Utah Jazz.

Like when you think of the Celtics and who runs “point” it’s really no one. They have people who can handle the ball and they run their shite without a specific person to bring it up. Bethea can do that.

What about Malik Thomas from San Francisco?

He's 6'6 and appears to be able to handle the ball well, score at he rim and shoot 3s well.

Is there any chance Jalil Bethea can run the point? He has great size and that would open us up to having a starting lineup if everyone being over 6’4.
