Again, look at Duke from an NBA projection standpoint. That was one of the most talented rosters in the history of their program they just wasted.
The mistake wasn’t with the model, the mistake was their young guys choking under pressure late against a physical Houston defense who the officials let play.

Just for comparison sake, we were +2200 this time last year. So Vegas likes us better right now than at the same time a year ago.

Also those BYU odds are ridiculous. That team is not a freshman Dybantsa away from title contention.
I don’t think a coach that says “we’re going to run up and down with Alabama and go under every screen” is going to win 6 straight games against top competition/coaching.

Watching this Houston/FL game, our roster isn’t shaping up to be nearly physical enough to win a NC next year.
Could still make a final four if we get the right draw, but no way we out physical a team like Houston next year (or the UConn’s of 2023-2024, SDSU 2023, etc.). We couldn’t even play physical enough with FL this year, and FL is getting bullied in this game where the refs are letting them.

None of those were ref’d like these final four games. I watched all 3 of those and while we weren’t the most physical team, the refs called things reasonably enough that we were able to run our offense.

Nate is 3-0 against Houston with 3 wildly different rosters. Our additions so far seem designed to address our struggles against physical teams. Between our recruiting class and the portal we haven't brought in anyone under 6'5".

I agree with your length comment, but you can absolutely look at how physical the individual pieces are to get a feel for how physical the team will be. Guys that play tough do so in every system, and guys that play more finesse do so in every system. Sharell and Reid play strong, physical basketball…but a lot of the other guys don’t have a lot of film of playing through contact or bullying guys when playing defense. We definitely need Reid back and I hope we get at least 1 more alpha defender/rebounder who isn’t a complete hole on offense.

I'm in the Tempe/Chandler area for work. I was hoping for the other two teammates might give Bama a look. Sanon and Quientence.
