They don’t play basketball games on paper, BUT…on paper if you look at the transfers we’ve added you have to feel really good.

Sears and Grant are obviously 2 of the most accomplished players in our history. We got them out of mid major programs and maximized their skills. Bethea was a top 10 type player we’re taking from an ACC school and Bol Bowen was a top 75 guy.

If we can keep the rest of our guys in house I feel really good about next year.

Getting Philon back (and Reid preferably but either him or Jain) makes this another contender roster (with how serious a contender depending on stuff we can't really know right now).

Losing Philon and bringing in a solid transfer PG in his place gives this team a little lower ceiling for sure, but still a very solid roster.

We’ll be lucky to make the NIT now that Mo Diobate is gone from what I’ve read.

Word is UGA is tampering heavily with Reid.

So what’s the feel on Philon? Feels like with him the upside of this team would be massive

Just my opinion, but seeing where Philon is projected to go if he declares (most in the 2nd, some in the late 1st), I feel like he comes back if our NIL is good enough. There's a lot of talent declaring this year and he could massively improve his stock while still getting a hefty payday. I fear if he declares and goes in the 2nd he could end up in a JD Davidson situation instead of a Collin Sexton situation.

My hunch is philon goes pro. He was one and done from the beginning if I remember correctly. But nil/draft slot could change it. I just hope it doesn't drag on to long and we miss out.

It'd be nice to get Reid and Steveson locked back in.

JD knew he wasn't going in the 1st. The guy didn't want to be in school, he wanted to focus full time on basketball and learning the game. He's not exactly in a bad situation right now...

JD Davison Named 2024-25 Kia NBA G League MVP

JD will be in the NBA very soon, and probably be there for awhile. But he'd have probably stayed in school if NIL were like it is today.

You’re probably thinking of Reid. When Philon announced for Bama (after signing with KU), nobody thought Alabama won that trade (Griffen for Philon) since he was seen as a depth piece behind Sears and Holloway. He went to work in the summer with no expectations and immediately turned heads.

Philon returning would be enormous.

Philon isnt guarnateed to go in the 1st either. Most mocks have him in the 2nd. Unless a team gives him real assurances theyll draft him in the 1st or guarantee a 2nd round contract, he might be better coming back.

And that's exactly the point of my initial post.

We just landed a former top 10 recruit, McDonald's all American, and y'all motherfrickers golf clap then keep on about Philon. frick that, I'm celebrating.

I won't post the donkey. But it'd be appropriate.

Hopefully we get both next year, but if you’d given our coaches a choice last year they’d have definitely taken Bethea.

Was ranked ahead of guys we were on pins and needles for like Reid, Asa Newell, Boogie Fland, and others. Miami was an absolute shite show with their coaching situation. The whole season was mailed in. This has a chance to be a massive get.

We have a good shot at having 4 McD All Americans all 2nd or 3rd year players next year. Yowza

Anyone familiar with his game? I checked his stats and he isn't a great 3-point shooter

Is he lock down in defense or something? Great distribution?

Aden Holloway had nearly identical statistics his freshman season at Auburn. He averaged 7.3 ppg and 30.2% from 3. We see how that turned out.

The reports on him out of highschool and the camps is he has great range. I think you have to throw out everything that happened at Miami. It was really bad circumstances for the whole team.

I think he's better than the serviceable 33% he shot at Miami. He shot 41% in EYBL.

Just watched some highlights. The dude is INCREDIBLY athletic. Quick twitch and can jump out of the gym. Nate Oats saw the flaws after the Duke, and is fixing them in a hurry. Jalil is going to be a monster if he can deal with the physicality of top teams.

The quality of shots he's going to get next year will be night and day from what he got this season. I'd be shocked if we don't unlock the ability that made him a Top 10 player.

All you gotta do is look at the difference in Aden between this season and last.
