TJ is a Midwest guy. I had my eye on Darian Devries but that's a lateral move.

Maybe. However, very few schools (other than the Barn) want to be the first school to be the one to hire the coach with skeletons in their closet. The Barn has had so many scandals and black eyes in their history and are so desperate to win that they don't really care. Teams seem to be much less bashful about hiring the coach after he's already been hired by another program. I'm not saying that we should be the one. Just saying how it seems to normally work out with programs.

I wouldn't call WVU to Bama lateral. Bama has more resources, $$$, and more name brand. The upside at Bama should be higher than WVU despite them having a fairly nice recent basketball history.

The guy at Drake is another to look at. When Byrne retires, I hope we give their AD a look.

I just checked him out. Ben McCollum. Wow. You're right. He is very impressive. Had a D2 dynasty. Yeah, he's definitely one to monitor.

I'm watching Creighton play Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Kalkbrenner is a beast. He's 15 for 17 with 36 points. But that's pretty much all they have. Their backup is terrible. Dude can't sit for 2 minutes without multiple consecutive turnovers.

I'm fricking glad we have 2 big body centers to give him hell. UTRGV is a #300+ team on Kenpom.

It's at point game with 8 minutes to play.

Edit. He finished 20 of 22 for 49 points. That game will tell is a lot about our front court.

What will they do when he gets into foul trouble?
I see he played 36 minutes with 0 fouls??
We have another Edey to deal with.

They lost a lot of his supporting cast, though. Last year, they had a loaded starting five. This year, not so much. He'll have to deal with more double teams against better opponents.

I’m fairly confident Cliff will hold him under 49 points.

They're fricked. Their backup looked worse than peak Wague. They couldn't take him out for more than 90 seconds. I was amazed he still had steam at the end.

I didn't really see one. UTRGV is a very good 3 shooting team, but have no front court at all. He was just so much bigger, stronger, and faster than anyone they had. It looked like he was playing against his little brothers and their friends. Definitely a legit 7 footer.

He also does a turnaround delayed close to mid range jumper that's very effective. He kinda hangs there for an extra split second, so that the defender is falling and he has an open shot. He's very good at using the backboard when at angles.

We'll need to run against them. We've got the bodies where we can go full steam for 40 minutes. If he can handle 35 minutes of that pace, he'll end up an early lottery pick.

Yep. And it showed last night. They've got a good PG. But not really much else. Because I'm planning on driving up for the Creighton game, I was honestly hoping to see more talent from their new starters. But I definitely feel more confident going into that game.

That’s almost as crazy as UAB being up 24-0.
