I think it allows recruiting flexibility like never before. I definitely feel for the smaller programs.
I was looking at the transfer portal for the d2 guys. There was a team that had 16 players in the portal. Granted, they only won 4 games last year.
These small schools are getting raided.

Jilm, fill me in please on the summer league- when and where?

It was only for the month of July, but they have (I think) all of the games on the WatchESPN app on demand. We had a lot of guys playing and most of them did well, except for Chuck :(
We had:
Charles Bediako- Orlando
Noah Clowney- Brooklyn
JD Davison- Boston
Keon Ellis- Sacramento
Aaron Estrada- Detroit
Kira Lewis Jr.- Houston
Brandon Miller- Charlotte
Alex Reese- Portland
Jaden Shackleford- OKC
I believe that’s all of them.
Brandon Miller only played in one game, but he scored 23 and shot 5/10 from 3.
Keon had 30 in his last game, and hustled the whole time like he always does.
Shack shot 47% from 3, but still drove to the rim with head down and fell on his hind end a lot like we’re used to seeing.
Clowney was solid. Estrada looked good handling the ball for the Pistons. Alex Reese seemed to lead the Blazers in scoring every game. Still shoots a line drive though.
It was just good to be able to watch our guys and some of the recent draft picks get out on the court.
Here’s a link to the sortable stats if you can’t watch any of it:

I wish we could have given Shack's shot selection, i.e. "why yes I think I will" to Keon while they were here.

For real. The announcers in one of the games even said the Kings coaches were wanting Keon to be a little more selfish just like Nate said.

You might want to start prepping.
Ryan Smith, billionaire owner of the Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake and soon to be NHL Salt Lake team is funding BYU's NIL. He spent over $5 million this off season for their basketball team.

I just don’t think a generational, consensus number 1 overall pick who is going to be in the NBA in a season anyway is going to pick BYU if the NiL offer from other schools is even close.
At a certain point a big part of your decision making is branding if you’re getting a large percentage of your early money from a shoe deal. If Mormonism was marketable they wouldn’t be knocking on so many doors.

I could be wrong and I’m willing to stupidly bet my digestive system on it.

No amount of money is getting me associated with Scientology's more respectable older sibling. That's just me though. I guess he'd only have to be there for a year and could never speak of it again afterwards.

I would say it’s pennywise and pound foolish to associate himself but Kyrie is always on his Black Hebrew bullshite and took a year off basketball to be a conspiracy lunatic and it hasn’t hurt him so who the hell knows anymore.
Posted on 8/5/24 at 3:07 pm to Sandkhan
Because Kyrie is really good at basketball. Jaylen Brown is a huge piece of shite too for the same reasons, but is also really good at basketball. The NBA only cares if you do something really heinous like criticizing China.

The funniest part about all of this is the post I made where they offered him 3 million and he’s allowed to soak had 3 upvotes and now has 2 upvotes and 1 downvote so I like to imagine someone looked up soaking and decided they didn’t like the joke

My deleted post at the top was a soaking joke. Then i realized you beat me to it. While hilarious, you don't want to overdue any joke.
That said, I now pretty much only refer to BYU as The Super Soakers.
