Caleb Wilson has scheduled an OV to Bama

It took a few minutes to find somewhere that confirmed that. Finally found an interview with his dad on a Gonzaga site. And I can't help but chuckle a little bit.

He released this yesterday...

But here's what he said...

quote:

Five-star wing Caleb Wilson has announced his top 12 schools and set up two official visits.
The 6-foot-9 jumbo wing from Atlanta (GA) Holy Innocents Episcopal School now lists Arkansas, Duke, North Carolina, Alabama, UCF, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Tennessee, Kentucky, Oregon, Ohio State and USC.

“Baylor is still in the mix as well,” his father Jerry told ZAGSBLOG. Wilson will take official visits to Alabama and Oregon, per his dad, while a meeting with BYU has also been set.

“He’s open to the best situation, and they’re just leading the pack,” Jerry said of the top 12 schools.

So it's not the 12 finalists, it's just his Top 12. And how do you have UCF higher than Baylor? Sure, I'd personally much rather live in Orlando than Waco, and I fricking hate Orlando. But I'm also not an elite one and done prospect looking to raise my stock. Drew is a much better coach then Dawkins.

But his dad is actually trying to make a point. Here's the whole quote.

quote:

“He’s open to the best situation, and they’re just leading the pack,” Jerry said of the top 12 schools. “This new college basketball roster building is a very fluid situation, so he has to be very precise in his decision so his new home can fit his particular set of skills. With all the changes from coaches to conferences, who knows where the right place may be, we just know there is a place for him.”

And that's definitely true. Rutgers would be a terrible place for an elite big to show the NBA the skills they'll want. It's why we got Cliff. There's multiple programs where that's possible. But I, and I'm sure y'all as well, think Bama is the best place for that. And after seeing things like that Field of 68 clip above or nba people calling us the 31st NBA team, it's not an absurd opinion. It's why we're getting an official from another elite recruit.

“The trick is to find a recruit that has the same name as a cartoon character. Then you start posting that cartoon on Twitter. Can you excuse me for a second? I have to call a 2026 shooting guard named Tommy Pickles”

I think it allows recruiting flexibility like never before. I definitely feel for the smaller programs. But Oats has balanced it perfectly. Get 2-3 elite level recruits, 1 or 2 year guys, and then fill the roster with upperclassmen transfers. There's a reason Cal only has 1 title, despite having so many elite players. Experience wins in March. It's also why I'm so excited about this year's squad.

I'm definitely interested to see what Cal does at Arky. So far, he's landed some great players. I know what he's said, but it'll be interesting to see what team building strategy will actually be. Stacking talent will get you on ESPN a lot. But it rarely wins the biggest games.

I’m going to go out on a limb and assume he’s not going to BYU so I think we’re in the final 6

BYU is the early leader. They hired the NBA's highest paid assistant (Kevin Young) as their new coach and they just paid $1.5 million for an 18 year old kid from Russia (Egor Demin) that is a consensus lottery pick next year. They have lots to spend.

I will eat a LDS Bible on live stream if AJ Dybantsa plays a game in a BYU uniform.

You have to agree to no sex at BYU. What 18 year old kid wants to agree with that? LOL I'm sure they all follow the rules.

LDS Bible is just a regular Bible, bro. You have to agree to eat all the rest of their required reading list.
