Bediako’s defensive presence has the ability to win games for us that we would’ve lost last season.

The most intriguing thing about him for me is how the pick and roll game develops between him and JD/JQ. He's much smoother moving towards the basket than I expected him to be and he appears to have the hands to receive passes from odd angles.

Been driving all evening, just now checking in. Looks like we rolled tonight, is LA Tech a good enough team to be excited about how good we played?

They're a popular pick to win their conference and were a KenPom top 100 team entering tonight, so yes you should feel very excited. This morning I was skeptical we were going to cover the 11.5 line.
I think they were top 80, maybe 78. So that's a solid win. Plus, they're a very experienced team. Not the usual opening game cupcake, but a legit mid major.

The Schedule......ITS TOUGH

According to CBS, it's the toughest OOC schedule in college basketball...

quote:

1. Alabama
Nov. 9: vs. Louisiana Tech -- 76
Nov. 12: vs. South Dakota State -- 107
Nov. 16: vs. South Alabama -- 175
Nov. 19 vs. Oakland -- 225
Nov. 25: Iona (neutral) -- 139
Nov. 27: Belmont/Drake (neutral) 38/72
Nov. 28: TBA in ESPN Events Invitational (potentially No. 3 Kansas)
Dec. 4: at No. 1 Gonzaga (Seattle)
Dec. 11: vs. No. 15 Houston
Dec. 14: at No. 12 Memphis
Dec. 18: vs. Jacksonville State -- 23
Dec. 21: vs. Colorado State -- 32
Jan. 29: vs. No. 8 Baylor

The Crimson Tide play three of last season's Final Four teams in Gonzaga, Houston and Baylor. They also face No. 12 Memphis on the road. If things break as expected in the ESPN Events Invitational, the Crimson Tide could also play No. 3 Kansas. A meeting with the Jayhawks would mean this team ends up playing five of the top 15 from the preseason AP Top 25. That's a crazy slate. Even the Crimson Tide's "easy" nonconference games are against respectable foes such as Colorado State, Louisiana Tech, South Dakota State and Iona

Great atmosphere in Coleman - especially for a season opener. UA hasn’t posted Coach Oats’ press conference yet but he started by thanking the crowd and especially the students. Here are a couple of SI write ups:

No. 14 Alabama Basketball Dominates Louisiana Tech in Season Opener, 93-64

The Crimson Tide had a total of five players register double-digit points in a balanced performance on both ends of the court.

Nate Oats Expresses Gratitude to Fanbase After Win Over Louisiana Tech

The Alabama men's basketball head coach Nate Oats was impressed with the season opener crowd, and he hopes it continues.

I thought the same thing. This team has amazing chemistry in the court. But seeing that, they really care about each other. Off court chemistry can make a talented team even better. Seeing that makes me very excited for what this team can do.

It's almost definitely the toughest Alabama has ever played.

Depending on how some of these mid-major teams like LA Tech and SD State shake out, I'd be curious to see where it ranks on an all-time CBB list.

Huge thanks to the student section for coming early, selling out all their tickets, and brining the energy all night. If we keep that up I may have to keep honoring their requests. @iTylerBarnes

I went to bed with us up 15 and we win by five. I liked what I saw up til I turned in..Dont at me but Rolltide.com is my source and they yad 73-68

nothing has changed with Shack as he had 5 TO's and 6 points.

FT shooting has improved.

La Tech would have won that game if they had better FT shooting. at one point they were like 3 for 15

I like the new players a lot

They could have made every FT they shot and they would have lost by 16 and we would have covered the spread easily

Keon Ellis had the highest Box +/- of any player in college basketball playing at least 60% of minutes against a Top 200 team last night per Torvik

JD Davison was #13

Keon Ellis DA GAWD
