Sounds like we ate some of that rat poison. Just win these next 2 and go into conference play 10-2 with resume wins over Gonzaga, Houston, and CSU.

Defense is 43rd right now. It needs to be top 30 if we are gonna make a run in March. Hodgson and Henry better toughen these boys up.

After sleeping on it...that fricking sucked. We have some serious issues defensively if we can't even limit, much less stop, a team like Memphis that has no plan on offense.

Last night was just a tough spot and I fully expect us to bounce back the next couple games. Defense and rebounding are starting to become concerning though. Have to get that fixed.

Can't make too much of it as far as resume. Coming off the Gonzaga win I had us at 3-1 over the last four heading into conference, with us losing last night (road game, letdown game, etc.).

Honestly we probably needed to be exposed like that before conference play starts.

Agreed. Hopefully this will be a moment we look back on come March and say how well the team responded after being beaten down like that. If we go 2-0 heading into Christmas, we’ll have put together a really good resume for the tournament.

Last night was tough, but it should be expected some with a rotation including mostly underclassmen.

I am concerned that our upperclassmen other than Ellis just aren’t built to be good defenders. JQ, Shack, Gurley aren’t very long.

It's not a good loss because of how we played, but if you know anything about basketball, you knew Memphis was capable of putting a game like this together. Penny has recruited too well there for them to keep losing like they have been.

Don't forget, with that bad losing streak, at home in front of 18,500 fans, and a team full of talented players... That was a wild animal backed into a corner, fighting for it's life. They out everythinged us, but especially hustled. Combine that was a bad shooting night from everyone, and I'm not surprised it was so ugly.

I couldnt help but notice, we were in the bonus within 4 minutes of the 2nd half, and Memphis, playing physical only had 2 fouls with like 4 minutes left in the game. Certainly not the reason we lost, but it was frustrating.

Exactly, they out hustled us and our defensive rebounding has been awful last 2 games.

I haven’t read anything since the game started so this has probably already been said but Gurley is absolutely useless. He can’t shoot, he’s lazy af…

Another way that Gurley sucking hurts us is...we don’t have that big that can consistently step out and knock down a 3 to pull defenders away from the rim. Tchikou can but he isn’t ready in other areas....

I’ve got faith in Rojas. I was higher on him last year than some and I think he is gonna bring some toughness to us when he gets back.

Gurley is the softest player on the team and it's not even close. Starting to feel like Burnett getting hurt is really biting us in the arse. JD is just a bad defender, but JQ and Shack simply don't have the length to bother anyone on the perimeter. So it's really just Ellis who can shut things down outside.
