Shack played really well vs Oakland. He is a huge part of our team. If you watch our guys shoot before the game, he is easily our best shooter, with JQ next. Other than the blonde walkon, the next best looks like Holt. Our offense will not work without outside shooters, so you should be thankful that he came back from California to Alabama to play basketball. You really cant blame him or his family for having some desire to play closer to home. If it was my kid I would want he within driving distance of his games. Im am very happy to have him.

I guess I’m the new sunshine pumper but I really think we match up extremely well with Gonzaga. Our guards and wings are fast and athletic with elite lateral quickness. Gonzaga will have an extremely difficult time getting off quality shots behind the arc against us, and Bediako gives us that rim protection we’ve always needed against teams with elite big men. I think we’ll completely frustrate them and ultimately win convincingly.

I'm very happy to have him too. Very good player.

I just wish he'd stop sprinting into the lane and throwing the ball at the background 3-4 times a game

I hope you're right but I would be satisfied if we're just competitive in that game because I think we'll get better as the season progresses. Hopefully we can avoid any serious injuries.

I think we’ll probably have to score 85 + to beat Gonzaga. We could do that.

There’s a solid to good chance that they get Bediako in foul trouble, and we have only one lock-down perimeter defender. Gonzaga struggling to get good shots against us seems…optimistic. I hope you’re right though!

I’m not down on the team though. We’re a legit team, and that’s an awesome OOC game that I can’t wait for.

Uconn has absolutely zero guards.

Forgot about RJ Cole, that’s one I wanted to transfer to Bama really bad at the time. He’s looking lost out there so far.

Also doesn’t help that Wendell Green is on fire, sheeeeeesh. Smooth shot

Edit: okay maybe Uconn does have some guards

I agree Bediako will get into foul trouble. It’s literally a given when we play top ranked teams. Our best player or players are immediately whistled for early fouls. We have greater depth now but not with our bigs. Wish Tchikou was more embedded in our rotation; would feel much more confident. Till then, watch out for the quick whistles.

Stumbled on this new podcast with the UConn coach’s wife interviewing the First Lady of Arkansas basketball (who was a very professional interviewer…Musselman did well). The first episode had Danny Hurley on with her and another coaching couple telling some pretty funny stories. Mrs. Hurley is a bit of a fireball, and apparently went crazy on a fan in the stands which reminded me of an episode with a former Bama First Lady. I’m sure with Oats’ connection to the Hurleys that Mrs. Oats will be on the podcast soon.

Note: Language is a little colorful, especially on the first episode.

That feels a little high, but I could be wrong. ESPN power index only gives us 63% chance to win. Thought I saw a -6.5 line a day or two ago, but maybe things got re-evaluated.

Torvik gives us 82% chance with calculated line of -9.8

Really solid day for Bama’s SOS as teams went 8-1 with A&M still outstanding. The fact that the 1 loss was AU’s double overtime heartbreak to UConn makes it even better IMO (sorry, can’t root for AU in anything…and probably won’t be able to root for LSU Bball until the Pear is gone). FL’s last 2 possessions were just money, lob pass for thundering dunk followed by buzzer beater 3! My 8 yr old son, who was supposed to be in bed, jumped off the couch and started screaming…love Feast Week basketball and Rivalry Weekend!

Update: A&M does its best impression of dr jekyll and mr hyde in two halves to make it 9-1. Scored 22 in the first to go down 10 and then 51 in the 2nd to win by 6. At one point in the 2nd, they had a 92.4% chance to lose the game. Impressive comeback against the leprechauns.
