@ Ken, @ Aub, Ark, Fla

Chris Fallica
@chrisfallica
Four teams seeded 11th or worse have won today. Since expansion in 1985, only once has there been a day where there have been five - March 16, 2012. 12 South Florida over Temple, 11 NC St over SDSU, 15 Norfolk St over Mizz, 13 Ohio over Michigan and 15 Lehigh over Duke.

and this weather looks horrible. I'm really worried for all of you. You should all probably stay home today. You're welcome.

When we have 16 turnovers or more, we are 6-5. 11 times.

We've turned it over 15+ times in 6 of our last 8 games.

Which is why it's a godsend we're playing a team ranked near the bottom in turnovers caused in that same timeframe. It's the stoppable force meets the movable object.

frick why do we have to have bad weather today of all days?

After going out last night to watch the games, I'm glad the weather adds some additional motivation to stay home today and just watch basketball on the very comfortable sofa.

Woke up feeling confident, I'm sure the nerves will hit around an hour before tip-off. I think we match up really well against Notre Dame, so I will be pretty bummed if we somehow go home today.

Just wrapped a conference call from my bed. My agenda is clear the rest of the day, though I’ll do a few things to make work easier next week. Probably work until around lunchtime, then I’m in the couch.

I think we win today, but play our typical frustratingly ugly game.

What do we know about Montana St? How are they going to beat Texas Tech?

All I know about Montana State is they beat us in Coleman in the late 80’s.

Apparently some folks have that circled as a game to watch because Texas Tech's aggressive defense sometimes results in a lot of fouls in the NCAAT and Montana State is Top 10 in the country in Free Throw rate (they draw a bunch) and shoots the 3 really well.

Throw in the fact that Texas Tech can kind of disappear offensively and it is one of those recipe for an upset type games.

Montana State - #4 FT Rate
Texas Tech - #232 FT Rate Defense

Montana State - #25 3PT % (37.2%)

However, they haven't played anybody at all. Their only Top 150 opponents all year was Game 1 @ Colorado (they lost by 4 in OT) and game 3 @ South Dakota State (lost by 17).

So even if we advance it's a pick your poison situation. Either we're going to commit 40 turnovers or we're going to watch our opponent shoot 40 FTs.

After watching a bunch of games yesterday they've pretty clearly been instructed to swallow their whistle on anything outside of serious contact around the rim. Bumping and touching out on the perimeter isn't called at all.

Pretty huge help for us.

I'd much rather face a team that gets to the line than a team who forces a lot of turnovers in a NCAAT game. Especially if it's close. Refs don't call many fouls in those, and even fewer in the final 5-10 minutes.

Last night was Jim Beam, too much based on what time I left my regular spot and my tab amount.

Today will be coffee and water. Maybe get into the Woodford or Basil Hayden tonight at the house if we win.

If we lose, probably some shower beers.
