The most frustrating thing was we weren't going under or over the pick. We were slamming into the pick on EVERY possession. Just running right into the guy like we had no idea he was there and every possession was Groundhog Day. I felt like I was taking crazy pills.
They weren’t just average picks either.
They were rec center fat old man moving screens with elbows and arse checks included.
I thought Nimari might’ve gotten knocked out with one of the elbows he caught in the 1st half. Ref was looking at him after he got knocked down like he was thinking about calling him for a flop too.

I mean, we should have figured it out, but holy shite those screens in the 1st half we're egregious. And not just feet shuffling, full on shoulder swings at guys as they came through. Just frickin absurd to allow out front in space.

I feel like this can be applied to half the games we have lost the last few years. I think our staff is top shelf when it comes to offensive gameplans, adjustments, play design, etc., but really struggles to do those things defensively. We're a good defensive team overall because we have enough guys with the right body types and attitudes to play good team defense, but on our bad days we are downright putrid because no adjustments are made and shite that was easy for our opponent on the first 3-4 possessions of the game is still easy for them late in the game and they get to go back to the same well 50 times.

And I'd get it if we were a team like Syracuse or UVA who plays a very specific type of defensive style that just isn't easy to deviate from, but we just play man to man and switch. Adjusting where we pick up guards, whether we are going under or over screens, lineups, etc. really isn't asking a lot. You don't have to throw out the entire plan to make really minor changes like that that can completely alter the way an offense has to go after you.

You can really tell who the guys are that didnt start watching us til they heard we were ranked 2nd.

Yep, agree. Or use it as a quick change up just to disrupt their flow and see how they counter.
It's just strange that we seemingly refuse to adjust that sort of stuff at all.

I’m a big ShotQuality fan but I’m calling bs on this one

Shot Quality is good for evaluating how you are playing in both ends and pointing out games where things just didn't go your way. I don't get or see the need for converting it to a scoring system thing, because you can't "expect" to make a certain % of open shots every night.
I do think it shows that the difference in a frustrating 8-12 pt loss and a 24 pt loss is the fact that Oklahoma made almost every open look.

I don't believe that to be true calling him Pete Golding or whatever. Nate Oats is the head coach and has the last say so but it's his coverage that we are running at the end of the day.
We run a drop coverage and we've ran it all year for some reason. The only person who ran that coverage differently was Noah Gurley vs Gonzaga when we made a mini run to claw back into the game in the second half.
We could easily switch this coverage to make it more aggressive but it starts in practice. You can tell that Bediako & Pringle are told to drop everyday in practice because you see it every single game versus the pick an roll.
We start back making our shots we'll be just fine but we got to shore up our defense versus the pick an roll because other teams are getting in a rhythm offensively to easy.
I say double the ball handler off the screen and force him to pick it up or make a difficult pass and that will force our defense to be the AGGRESSOR out the gate!

Yea, I think the biggest difference there is that Oklahoma made so many of those open 3s when they haven't all season.
The other things are generally true, but they are continuations of some ongoing things (Clowneys slump for instance).

He was almost having panic attacks when we were on a 10 game winning streak of course he is going to #worry after a loss.

Fever, leave my dawg alone lol
It is what it is...but I think a simple tweak in our defensive coverage guarding screens would improve our defense.

Yesterday was just a long con to make sure we don't play early round games in Birmingham.

If you don’t understand that my #worry was just a bit I was doing with Joka…then I don’t know

I had to VENT a little myself yesterday so I apologize for getting carried away because at the end of the day...Bama is still 18-3 and unbeaten in the SEC.
On top of that I keep forgetting that we start 3 Freshman who are major contributors.
I'm glad they got to EXPERIENCE the other end of that BEAT DOWN.
