Are there any players you like or are they all disappointing you?

We’re ranked number 2 in the country and I have heard from you is worry. If you cant be happy with our bball team now you'll never be happy with it.

Gameday!

Seems like a good day to go to 19-2.

Best starts
'74-75 - started 20-2 (lost to #7 Kentucky, we were #8)
'76-77 - started 19-2 (lost #14 Tenn, we were #4)
'81-82 - started 17-2 (then lost 3 in row @ OM, @ LSU, #12 Ken, we were #8)

The games are scheduled back to back every 2 hours on ESPN. The first one is inevitably the only one that will start on the correct channel. frick espn.

After the scare the team had earlier this week, I think we'll see a sharper team on the court today. Like some others have said, we seem to embrace playing on the road and have a little edge.

Line has dropped down a bit, I still like it. I took a look at OU a bit and they kinda just seem like a better version of Miss St so I expect another dogfight where we pull away near the end.

Very interested to see how the conference holds up today, it's going to be one of those days where I park myself in front of the TV and don't move until bedtime.

Happy Gameday.

Why do I just not buy this?

I'm hoping you're right, but we've been trending down in 3 pointers, and I'm imagining that not to suddenly improve.
Maybe it's my typical distrust in Alabama basketball I've had for decades

Nimari Burnett 'very close' to full health, unbothered by bench role

Alabama guard Nimari Burnett returned to the floor one week ago after missing nine games with a wrist injury. The former starter only played in seven total minutes in the last two games, including just one against Mississippi State, but he is happy to be back on the court for the Crimson Tide and, on Friday morning, said he is almost back to full health.

“I’m very close,” Burnett told local reporters. “Work is a testament. Clarke (Holter) and the staff, as far as helping me get back, is a testament. Everything’s going really well, and I’m looking forward to us continuing to win and me continuing to get better and get in the flow.”

After missing the entire 2021-22 season because of an offseason knee injury, Burnett started the first nine games of the 2022-23 campaign and was averaging 7.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest. He had also been one of Alabama’s best defenders, especially on the perimeter, prior to suffering a fractured wrist and having to undergo surgery back in mid-December.

Freshman guard Jaden Bradley replaced Burnett in the starting lineup, and of late, guards like Jahvon Quinerly, Rylan Griffen and Dom Welch have provided sparks off the bench for the Tide during its nine-game winning streak. But with Burnett getting closer to 100-percent health, will he soon be back in the UA starting lineup? Head coach Nate Oats discussed that last week.

“He wasn’t out for the extended time that he was the first time the whole year when he blew his knee out or that JQ was out for, but it was still long enough that you get out of sync a little bit,” Oats said. “We’re trying to get him as many practice reps as we can, and we’ll get him as many game reps as we can. And I think as soon as we feel like he’s back to full 100 percent.

“A lot of your skill stuff disappears quickly – your shooting, your dribbling. He’s just gotta get back comfortable. If the wrist is 100 percent, it doesn’t necessarily mean his skill set is back to 100 percent. And the only way he can really get that is doing a lot of live reps in practice, spending some time outside of practice. He’s one of the hardest-working kids we’ve got on the team, so I’m sure he’s doing that.

“When we do feel like he’s back 100 percent, we’ll have to evaluate it at that point. We’ve been winning a lot of games with the lineup we’ve got, so it’ll be hard to mess with it. But a lot of times, these things take care of themselves as you kind of play through the season.”

Alabama (18-2, 8-0 SEC) could have used Burnett in its loss to Gonzaga, but it was still able to win eight of its next nine games without the Texas Tech transfer. But having him back gives the Tide a strong defender, another shooter and added depth for the final stretch of the season. As for whether he returns to the starting five or not, Burnett isn’t worried about his current role.

He just wants to continue winning games.

“It does not matter at all,” Burnett said of his role. “At the end of the day, what you’re doing is on the floor, it’s happening on the floor. So whether it’s starting or coming off the bench, it really doesn’t matter. And as long as we’re winning, that’s what matters most importantly.”

WVa is just letting the Aub bigs catch it in the post. Make them shoot over the defenders. It's working so far.
