Truth! Also that old time adage of:

“Thou shall not kill.”

Is a good one, too.

If it’s Miles’s gun, he’s still in pretty deep shite. For him to get a capital murder charge, it had to be more of him giving the guy the gun to shoot. Maybe the right lawyer could get it pled down, but he’s still gonna do a lot of time. Just sad all the way around.

Want to give a nod to the ladies who pulled off an impressive and much needed road win yesterday. Made all the more impressive by the fact they did it without their top two scorers (Davis and Abrams) who are both out with injuries. Ole Miss was previously undefeated in conference play and undefeated at home this season.

Alabama Holds Off Ole Miss For 63-58 Road Win

The Alabama women's basketball team outlasted the Ole Miss Rebels on Sunday, taking a 63-58 road win in SJB Pavilion.

The Crimson Tide was playing without its two leading point scorers, Brittany Davis and Megan Abrams, who both suffered injuries against Auburn on Jan. 8. After trailing by eight points at the end of the first quarter (17-9), Alabama battled back to make it a one-possession game heading into halftime (27-25). UA would outscore the Rebels 38-31 in the second half to take a five-point victory on the road.

Alabama (14-4, 3-2 SEC) had three players in double digits as Sarah Ashlee Barker paced the Tide with 16 points, five boards, three assists and two steals. Loyal McQueen scored 14 points in the game, in addition to tallying three boards, three assists and two steals, while Jada Rice recorded an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double. Rice also tallied three blocks in the win.

Ole Miss (16-3, 5-1 SEC) was led by a 16-point, four-rebound performance from Destiny Salary. Angel Baker recorded 12 points, six boards and two steals, while Madison Scott had 11 points, 14 rebounds and three assists in the loss.

He might could get a deal for 20 years if he cooperates. Still would have to serve 18 before eligible for parole.

Not necessarily. To pick up a capital murder charge as an accomplice you merely had to "aid and abet", which is an extremely broad concept. Hypothetically, if Miles owned two guns and gave one of them to the other guy after they had the altercation on the Strip that would be enough to get an arrest warrant. However, ultimately convicting him of a murder under those circumstances would be nearly impossible unless he was stupid enough to tell the police that he gave the guy a gun knowing he was going to use it offensively instead of defensively.

It's also entirely possible that while the gun they recovered belongs to Miles there are conflicting statements regarding who the shooter was, so they just charged both of them.

If neither of them were willing to talk that’s exactly what they will do. Which is fricking stupid for whichever one didn’t pull the trigger. Ain’t no friendship worth me spending the rest of my life in prison so I would rat the other dude out no problem

Show me where I in any way impugned the team or the coach. I said it sucks and casts a pall over a great season we we were having. If you can brush off the MURDER of an innocent young woman at the hands of one of Bama’s players - and yes he was on the official roster website until just a few hours after the incident - and you can watch our games right now with the same intensity as you did Saturday, you need to check your priorities.

Gotta disagree with you there. If the cops ever arrest you for anything, much less a murder, and ask to talk to you the only response you should give them is "I'd like to speak to a lawyer." Doesn't even matter if you were in a different city when the crime was committed and you had absolutely nothing to do with it. Let your lawyer handle that. The police are not your friends and are not interested in helping you.

You literally described continuing to watch them play as "cheap and dirty".

I wish my wife had your attitude so I could find an article about a Target employee who shot someone. That way I'd never have to go there again. But she's not a fricking moron like you, so she'd realize that one person's actions are their own and no one else's and I'd still get dragged to Target for an hour and a half.

That in no way impugns anyone’s character on the team. It describes how it deflated MY enjoyment of the game AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME, just hours after the murder of a young woman.

This may be the worst false equivalency I’ve ever read in my life. I’m talking about a GAME and how the the murder of a young woman by one of OUR players affects the intensity of my fandom of said game. You’re comparing it to SHOPPING. Again, check your priorities, you sick frick.

I think you need to take your own advice if your response to one person's terrible actions is to associate those actions with people who had nothing to do with it. You think those other kids asked for this bullshite? You think they want this in their lives? They're just out there trying to play basketball and now a bunch of trash like you is going to spend the rest of the season associating them with a fricking murder they had absolutely nothing to do with.

You are completely missing my point. This NOT about Oats or the other INNOCENT team members. Check the original thread on tRant. I was one of the first to defend Oats and denounce the mud slinging at him. I take backseat to no one in being a fan of Oats and Bama basketball and sports in general. I said this:

quote:

A young woman is dead and all you frickwad trolls can do is use it as an excuse to sling mud at a Bama coach who has not had a shred of scandal in four seasons. He has by all accounts run clean programs and recruited high character kids. Name one other problem player with a serious issue during his time at Bama. By the way, innocent until proven guilty. These knee jerk reactions never backfire on idiots who sling them. Let’s let the facts come out. We know very little right now. If he’s guilty, I’ll be the first to pile on.

Who among us hasn't handed a pistol to a hot-headed out-of-town visitor before loading up for some late night Phil's on the strip?

I mean it’s not a big deal, right? A young woman is dead and one of our players was involved. Not our problem. Let’s beat Vandy! I hope Miller goes OFF! Roll Tide, bitches!

Oh, we got us a badass here, unaffected by the death of an innocent woman at the hands of one his own team’s players. ‘Not my problem. Roll Tide, bitches!’
