I don't think they're because guys don't have a feel for the game or are just running around like wild athletes without an idea of purpose.

I guess I view throwing ill advised passes or making poor driving decisions as not playing smart basketball and definitely not having a feel for the game (similar to a QB that throws 4 ints because of poor decisions). Missed open shots, lazy defense, etc. all fall into the low energy category for me but poor passing and driving feels like mental lapses.
