No. 4 Alabama Basketball Looks to Avoid Letdown against Memphis

After losing to the Tigers by 14 in Memphis a season ago, the Crimson Tide looks to avenge that loss and stay hot on Tuesday night.

Alabama's Guard Depth is Becoming a Good Problem

Nate Oats has a lot of options for his backcourt, but the support remains the same regardless of who takes the floor.

Alabama Basketball Rises to No. 4 in AP Top 25 After Win at Houston

The Crimson Tide also jumped up five spots to No. 5 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll.

Just trying to be a part of a basketball program this university is proud of! Meant no disrespect to our Football program and have nothing but love for them! #RollTide

Those folks should be proud that a team in Crimson showed up in a tough road environment and didn't piss their leg because of "anxiousness" like the ones we watched all fall.

Rarely seen in the wild… BOG’s are an endangered species native to Tuscaloosa County. Identifiable by their frequent outbursts for no apparent reason from November through March, likely due to bipolar disorder. They also show signs of Paranoid Schizophrenia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Clinical Depression, and Anxiety Disorders between 6-10pm Monday through Friday and after 12pm on weekends in the late Fall and early Spring. Notably, they should not be approached, but rather observed from a distance during these times.

A friendly and knowledgeable species amongst their own, but known to greet FOG’s with disdain and violence, especially after the Tide beat the shite out of two #1’s in two weeks on their newly inaugurated, yearly migration to the Final Four.

In the sense that it's an official group of people? No.

In the sense that social media is the worst thing that has ever happened to society because it gives every village idiot a platform to broadcast their thoughts to the world and Twitter is the worst offender? Yes.

BOGs

Do these exist? I mean there are some that follow basketball intimately, but they're still aware of the football team and its existence, etc.
True FOGs know virtually zero of any University of Alabama athletic program outside of football.
And if they did, in observation, all things would revert back to football.

"That Javan Quentin guy just threw another interception"
"Basketball needs a 7 point basket"

I’m not mad at Sears, but I find the “basketball school” comments equally annoying to the FOGs this thread constantly complains about.

Both promote an incorrect narrative.

Literally no one seriously thinks Alabama is a basketball school. Not even an unapologetic homer like Joka or Fever. The guy is just hyping up his team and wanting people to support them. He's from Alabama and playing for us clearly means a lot to him.

Yeah, I was pretty clearly joking about the BOG, but I think nearly every FOG would make that claim about certain fans whose responses don’t align with theirs every time a “Would You Trade a Football NC for a Basketball NC?” thread pops up.

In reality, I tend to find that most most fans following Basketball closely also follow Baseball, or Softball, or Gymnastics, or even the apparently kick arse Soccer team we now have. Anything competitive can peak interest. I’ve always loved collegiate golf and watch any televised tournament I can find. Watching Mullinax drain a bomb for a Natty was one of my favorite Tide moments, even if no one else was watching or even know the team was playing.

Basically, some just like to see ALABAMA win. At everything. Everyone loves football… it’s Tuscaloosa for goodness sake. But I’ve loved Oats since the moment he answered, “We’re a championship school”. I just wish the AD/PTB had the same mentality more often.

I'm not sure if people comprehend this, but a school can be more than one thing. It can be a business school, a gymnastics school, a football school, a law school, etc. If I say I'm a fisherman, I'm not saying I'm not a hunter. It's just a different conversation.

The fans will support the bball team if they can win consistently. Bama fans are harder on you than most when you lose but when you win you are gonna have a ton of support.
