At one point toward the end of the game during a timeout, Pearl was on the court yelling, seemingly, at the broadcast table. Didn’t see it mentioned in the thread - anyone at the game catch that and have a clue as to what it was about?

There were a lot in the upper corners. They did a good job buying when the single game tickets went on sale and off the secondary market.

He was at fricking mid-court yelling at them. It’s downright ridiculous what he gets away with.

It sounded like 2 or 3 thousand on tv. Our crowd was loud but theirs sounded loud as well.

Don’t give our ticket holders a pass, they were well more present than “in the upper corners”

The problem is our arena is too big and people will buy up bulks of the cheap tickets higher up and sell them to whoever to make money and Auburn fans buy them up.
I would say 1500 to 2000 Barners last night. If Neville Arena was 15,000 seats instead of 8,000 they would have the same problem when they play us.

quote:Yep. I was amazed at the amount of orange in premium season ticket seats. I know this would definitely impact my ability to keep my own seats, but I'm beyond ready to move the students away from the nether reaches of Coleman to the sideline near the court.

Apologies for the early melt, but it's kind of ridiculous that every Auburn fan was there at tipoff and half the Bama contingent decided to wait until 7:30 to show up.

Up to 48th in Torvik’s defensive efficiency, 56th in KenPom
The perimeter defense is genuinely good and the rim protection is passable

The light issue certainly helped fill in the gaps that were lacking at tip

We are a lethargic fanbase and administration when it comes to basketball. Auburn figured out the secret, drive up demand, drive up interest. Auburn was worse than us just 15 years ago. I clearly remember Auburn hanging a giant curtain over the entire side of their arena to cover up the empty seats and that wasn't 40 years ago. They made a great business decision and said lets consolidate, make a gym that sits right on the court and make it look like a phenomenal experience to anyone viewing. They shrunk down the gym size , made every seat a good seat and then the excitement took care of itself. You can't find an Auburn ticket for under $100.00 a seat for just about any home game... Sure that sucks, but it motivates the fan to hustle up and get your money's worth.
We are dragging our feet on putting the pressure on this administration and ultimately it's going to cost us our coach and I absolutely hate that. We are sitting on a goldmine of a coach and a fanbase that will respond with the right carrot dangled in front of them.

It’s weird how nobody complaining about the crowd was actually there.
The weather was horrible getting there.

Most of this thread complains about our crowds every game yet they aren’t season ticket holders or regular attendees. It’s just easier to bitch from afar.

We got on Paul Bryant at 5:45 and barely made tip-off. You’re expecting a lot of bham folks to leave work early to have that place filled at the start of the game

Just to clarify, this is my second post to the forum. Im a season ticket holder and I buy my tickets off an alumnus who has great seats, but has no interest in basketball. So I feel like if nothing else, im filling some of those golden seats that are visible on tv that are often empty because we have quite a few large donors who don't attend games but have premium seats.
All of that aside, Alabama basketball has a strong fanbase. We always put a bare minimum of 8-10000 in the seats, it's just that arena is such a dump that it looks terrible and has a bad atmosphere. Personally, Im a far bigger basketball fan than football fan. I didn't attend Alabama but grew up going to games and it became a passion of mine to see a program that has always been on the brink to actually break that ceiling once in my lifetime.
It frustrates me that there isn't more pressure on this administration to cash in on a very prosperous opportunity and it befuddles me that it frustrates our fans when this is brought up.. Basketball has always been the 2nd biggest money generating sport at Alabama. Strike while the iron is hot. The recruits are coming to Tuscaloosa, we have arguably a top 5-10 coach in the country. The scene is set, I just can't wrap my head around money being that big of an issue when we are dealing with an arena that was built in 1968.

this it the correct answer
and aub fans show up for every game in Coleman. This has been happening for years and years. It may have been slightly more exaggerated last night with them in the top 10 but it's not new.

Yep. Weeknight tips are not easy for people who don't live in Tuscaloosa. It has always been this way.
Speaking of, the last time we got Auburn in tHangar on a Saturday was....2017. They've gotten us at home on Saturday like 4 or 5 times since then. How in the frick is that allowed?
