I gotta defend Bo a little bit here. Bama and Auburn may be the hardest schools to win at in college baseball(when you factor in toughness of SEC schedule). Even just being an average SEC team here would mean you are an above average coach.

The baseball program is a victim of the schools own success. Tuition in general and especially for OOS students is insane. You try recruiting a high level OOS player by telling him his family(or him) is gonna have pay out the wazzu to play here. He can go play at Vandy for free. You might say "why doesnt the University offer in-state/reduced tuition to baseball players?" because they are greedy assholes. They dont have to. Bama is such a niche little "get away from home" school that they rake in money on OOS tuition. They wont risk a dime of that on an irrelevant baseball program.

Winning here would require being exceptional not just good. NIL is the only hope for this program and the new coach would have to pursue this to win. Still NIL deals would have to get up to 700k+/year to cover baseball. What businesses out there can really benefit that much from baseball sponserships?

This is why I recommended this particular guy to Bo**reference to a post I made during the UF series**...for developing players he is one of the best in the country..Id argue THE best. Bama needs guys like that to win. We need to be able to sell top players that going to Bama will maximize their potential physically and skill wise to make it at the next level. Right now top players have no reason to choose Bama over any other top 30 school.

Have we not had two recruiting classes ranked in the top ten over the last 3 years? Seems like we’ve recruited well enough to field a better team

We are getting better athletes under Bo, that’s why I am trying to be objective and patient … we just need more SEC quality arms IMO…. Losing CP was a blow

That’s the problem in a nutshell. Players that will make a difference here are good enough to be drafted pretty high and get to choose between paying to play or getting paid to play.

It wouldn’t cost a crap ton of money to do something to offset or negate Bama’s disadvantage. Why can’t we set up an NIL slush fund like A&Ms football fund? We’re going to have to get radical to level the playing field.

This. We dont need a baseball coaching phenom. We need someone who is outside the box.

I honestly dont know. Recruiting rankings for baseball are probably not that reliable. Often times you sign a guy and he goes to the pros. Bama signed Jorge Posada back in the day...he never played an inning here

We need to find a way to get beyond the 11 1/2 scholarship limit. Vandy can give financial aid or merit scholarships to all 35 players. All of our surrounding states except Miss have lotteries that can fund scholarships, and Mississippi has casino gambling money for funding. All SEC schools could easily fund 2 or 3 more womens's team (Equestrian, synchronized swimming, lacrosse? whatever?) to satisfy Title 9, but Alabama and Auburn are falling farther behind because any action on a lottery or casinos has to go through the state legislature before the 80% or so who want a lottery can even vote on it. This quandry stems from our 1901 Constitution, which is the longest in the world because any and everything must be settled in the legislature, meaning everybody has to get his kickback guaranteed, before we can vote. We will rarely beat fully funded baseball teams splitting up 11 1/2 scholarships.

The Pain of Loving You

“Oh, the pain of loving you
Oh, the misery I go through
Never knowing what to do
Oh, the pain of loving you

You just can't stand to see me happy
Seems you hurt me all you can
Still I go on loving you
But I'll never understand

Oh, the pain of loving you
Oh, the misery I go through
Never knowing what to do
Oh, the pain of loving you

To love and hate at the same time
The line between the two is fine
But too has bound my heart and soul
So strong that I can't let you go

Oh, the pain of loving you
Oh, the misery I go through
Never knowing what to do
Oh, the pain of loving you
Oh, the pain of loving you”

JMO but I don't believe the high dollar Bama boosters are going to divert money to baseball when it will all be needed to keep football on page one.

0-0 through the first 3 innings then Bama gives up a 2 run homer in the 4th. 2-0 MSU after 4th inning.

Top of 5th a walk and wild pitch let Bama have a runner on second with none out. This was followed by 3 straight strikeouts. This team is brutal right now.

Thus far the team has put on a clinic in offensive impotence. 1st inning the lead off batter gets on, next batter hits into a double play. Next batter gets on and gets picked off stealing 2nd. Oh the pain…..
