Boom?

SEC To Utilize TrackMan For 2022 Baseball Season

The Southeastern Conference will utilize TrackMan technology for conference baseball games during the 2022 season to monitor and evaluate ball-strike performance of SEC umpires.

TrackMan uses patented Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking (OERT) to deliver data from tracking systems installed in baseball stadiums. The TrackMan V3 stadium system is used by 12 SEC schools and more than 120 colleges around the country.

The SEC will use data delivered by TrackMan to monitor each pitch of every game for accuracy by SEC umpires and will use the resulting information to train, evaluate and improve performance.

"The SEC has been a leader in using technology for evaluating and improving officiating in all sports, including the use of centralized or collaborative replay in football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and now softball," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. "This is another innovative step to improving the accuracy and performance of SEC officiating."

TrackMan is used by all 30 Major League Baseball teams, top amateur organizations, prominent collegiate summer leagues and is embedded in more than 500 stadiums around the world.

"TrackMan has been tracking SEC games for nearly 10 years and we are very proud to expand our relationship with the leading conference in college baseball to provide accurate data in the training, education and evaluation of SEC umpires' performance," said James Snikeris, NCAA account manager for TrackMan.

The technology will be used for all conference baseball games and the SEC Baseball Tournament.

Baseball is not continuing to improve as it has the past few seasons. So far, this is not a good look for Bo. I think the pilot light under his seat just lit up. It remains to be seen whether the gas will be turned on.

Got back to the car in time to hear the final out. The radio guys brought up two base running mistakes that sounded costly. Turned it off before I could hear any more. Southern Miss is a good team - but one Bama should be able to handle. This doesn’t give me a warm fuzzy heading into this weekend against a top 10 Florida team….

Alabama Baseball Falls Short at Southern Miss, 3-2 (SI)

The Crimson Tide combined for two runs off of nine hits, leaving five runners stranded on base.

I have my doubts about this team/coach but I'm going to hold off on writing them off until after this weekend. I believe as long as we don't get swept we can still be competitive this year. But we are not helping our resumè with these mid-week losses. We can't afford to be sub-par in conference AND non-conference.

in the past 15 days Bama has lost 3 mid week games to mid majors. Pitching apparently was good but where was the hitting?

I dont think we can win ore then 10 conferences games at this rate. I hope I am wrong though

Agreed, but baseball is a fickle sport. Should know more by Sunday at 4pm on how this season will probably play out

I wouldn’t put USM in the same boat. They were in line to host a regional last year. And they’ll be in the running again this year.

While that may be true, you still have to prove that you can win at least one of those. Especially knowing that you will probably be sub .500 in the conference. We got in the tournament last year largely due to us taking care of business in out of conference, granted it wasn't as tough as this year

SEC Plays Begins as Baseball Hosts Ninth-Ranked Florida

Alabama will begin Southeastern Conference play this weekend at Sewell-Thomas Stadium as the Crimson Tide hosts No. 9 Florida for a three-game series. Things get underway on Friday at 6 p.m. CT with Saturday's start also set for 6 p.m. The series finale on Sunday is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first pitch with all three games airing live on SEC Network+.

The Joe will have promotions for fans of all ages this weekend as the Crimson Tide hosts Florida. Saturday will be Alabama's 'Alumni Game' as the program recognizes the 25-year anniversary of the 1996 and 1997 teams that reached the College World Series. Former players on both rosters will be honored with a pregame ceremony. Additionally, all former Alabama baseball players and staff will be welcomed back for an alumni celebration at The Joe. The Saturday matchup will feature a commemorative hat giveaway to the first 250 fans through the gates. The hat will feature a retro logo recognizing the '96 and '97 College World Series.

The series finale on Sunday will continue the Tide's "Kids' Day at The Joe" promotion. All kids 18-and-under can purchase a $5 general admission ticket. Children will then have the chance to run the bases postgame. Sunday's series finale will also begin the Tide's baseball card giveaway as part of a season-long promotion highlighting the 2022 roster. Kids can get their first pack of baseball cards and stay after the game to get autographs from the group of players featured on this Sunday's set of cards.

Gosh I’d love to be there Saturday. What a team & what an offense that was. Dustan Mohr, Joe Caruso, Roberto Vaz, Tidwell, Frick, and my all time favorite player Andy Phillips. Cant believe it has been 25 years, seems like yesterday. Thanks for the info & post, RTR!
