Sabans defense is what's being run at Georgia. The difference being intensity. Shumann, Pruitt, Muschamp, all run Sabans defense.

They run an evolution of Saban's defense. It's the same base stuff but it isn't the same as what Golding is running exactly. I don't have the long article here but there are some key differences in how they run it and what they do personnel wise.

I realize it's not Goldings defense, but Golding has taken Saban's base defense and added his own bs. Kirby's defense is closer to Sabans than Goldings.

What I don’t understand is, why would Saban throw away an entire season by inaction?

Because we made it to the championship last year with what we had. He thought he could get by this year and then do the changes that were coming anyway (bob).

It's not talent. It is coaching and leadership.

It's been hit on all year. Change is needed. BoB nor Pete are getting the best from the team, and the team simply isn't responding.

Hope to see change this off-season.

In the meantime, there is some peace in just enjoying the next game knowing the post-season pressures and aspirations are behind us.

That said, LSU earned that W. Played really hard and were well coached. No issues losing a game like that. The UTk game was a completely different story. They had no business being on the field with Bama, and the team couldn't get out of its own way. That one was a much tougher L.

I'm beginning to wonder if Saban's defense is past is prime now. Perhaps the new offenses are able to scheme around Saban's form of coverage.

Nah, we just run man with delayed blitzes on long plays (2nd/3rd and long) and that screwed us.

Kirby on the other hand seems to switch it up and mix zone with blitzes to confuse.

Golding basically runs a Tecmo Bowl defense. If you guess the right offensive play you stuff them. If not watch out.

TL;DR: Golding & O'Brien MUST be replaced. Their schemes and calls prove beyond any reasonable doubt that they're both idiots.

Did anyone listened to Saban's show last night?

I read that a caller asked Saban about being calmer on the sidelines than he used to be and Saban responded that if they thought him going nuts and breaking headsets would make us play better then he would do it.

I thought, "Yes, I do think it would make us play better, please do it."

You won't find someone who has a more unhealthy hate of the barn than me, but I give them credit in 2 areas. They move decisively most times in fires/hires and they have an aggressive media-hype program that is relentless. We tend to be VERY slow in our hire/fires

The reason they go in manic cycles of good to garbage, is because they pull the trigger so fast. Other than a few big wins here and there, they haven’t legitimately competed for a championship for nearly a decade. They’ve chewed through a few coaches and have had more shitty years than not. Their model is not one to follow. Hell, even Auburn fans would tell you that.

That’s an interesting point. Different coaches, different styles.

I absolutely loved having Lane on the sidelines as OC. His attitude was infectious as well as his coaching players on the sideline.

Bob on the other hand. I’m getting an image of a telemarketer in my head.

Button 1 - “check their alignment and throw to the hot read”

Button 2 - “check their alignment and throw to the hot read”

Coach they’re jamming the hot read

Button 3 - “check their alignment and throw to the hot read”

If he doesn't, then Saban's future has to be examined and Bama football has to start looking very hard at its future. I hope the best for Saban but if a move is made, I hope its quick enough the program doesn't take a major dip. The football program and Saban's career hangs in the balance of how he handles this.

If Nick Saban wants to take a power shite on the 50 yard line during half-time at the Iron Bowl no one from Alabama need have a damn thing to say about it.

Yes, Bill-O and Pete Goldschläger suck at times, their inconsistency is frustrating as hell. Yes, I think they should probably be relieved of their duties and I'd probably bet some money that they will be very soon, but CNS plays the long game and he's beyond earned the benefit of the doubt. After all, Bear Bryant had 1969 and 1970.

Perspective - even with those two mediocre coordinators, a stable of pretty average receivers this team has only lost twice - both on the road to two (now) top-10 programs by a grand total of 4 pts - points Alabama gave them with stupid errors.

Losing sucks, especially to those TN arse-drinking leg humpers (seriously, hope their kids catch herpes from their mom during birth), but saying crap like this about CNS is repugnant.

It's not that we lost to tenn it's how we lost. It was a cluster. Every way the team could screw up it did. There's literally no way a team could screw up worse. We have a&m level coordinators.

Though I agree with everything you said.

I saw a lot of that Saturday night DURING the game and after. Saban's human and makes mistakes like everyone, but the level of entitlement shown where anyone could actually WANT him fired or be encouraged to step down is absolute insanity. Who do these people believe will step right in and immediately do a better job than the greatest college coach in history?
