How in the hell did Bill Battle agree to a buyout at 9 million for Avery Johnson? His buyout should have been no more than one years salary at the most. No wonder we can't have nice things.

Because Bill Battle is an aimless moron who will go down as one of the worst ADs in school history. We all thought he was benign at the time but as we get further removed from his tenure, it's clear the guy had no clue what he was doing.
Thank God Coach Saban didn't go to Texas.

I can't imagine with the history of the past 3 Bama BB coaches that the U of A would agree to anything more than 5 million as buyout. If the new coach can't go along with that then fine. Don't f hire them. Pay more salary each year and less buyout. Make everybody have some skin in the game. 5 million per year and 5 million as the total buyout from day one of the contract.
