After twenty years of dominance. EVERYONE knows this is not the Alabama standard and brand. The media, and former Bama haters are united and pissed.

It’s almost like we are bringing the country together over a hatred of this type of Alabama football.

Yep. I can’t get on any social media (the few that I have). People are loving this. Work is going to suck

Weird how the national media doesn’t demonize Georgia football or Ohio State like they do Alabama. Those program have been just as dominant in a lot of ways as Alabama.

It's because they haven't been doing it for almost a century like Bama has. Everyone wants to see us at rock bottom because we so rarely are. They'll gloat for a year or so and then if we don't bounce back they'll stop talking about us at all. Just like the early 2000s.

Agreed. It doesn’t help that our fans react the way we do. All the crowd shots during the game was us being pissed

But they haven’t been as dominant for as long. If Bama didn’t exist those teams would be the most hated OR if one of them won a few more titles (like OSU winning 3 in 4 years).

Right now most of the hatred is still reserved for Bama, once that starts to die down it’ll switch over to another team

Ohio State has been dominant for over 20 years since Jim Tressell was hired. Georgia has been really very good since Mark Richt was their coach. They fired him after a 9-3 season for goodness sake. The media hates Alabama for politics. They’ve had it out for us since what happened with George Wallace in the 60’s.

ESPN has been openly rooting for our demise for years. They love what’s happening now.

There are two reasons why Alabama got bad national press during the Saban era in particular, and it had nothing to do with how many championships we won.

First off, I am not going to insult your intelligence by telling you the national media doesn’t have a liberal bent, but they are anti authority more than anything. Any situation where anyone in a position of authority … doesn’t matter if it’s a parent, a police officer or an athletic coach … tells someone to do something just because they say so is viewed negatively because they basically don’t believe in and resent authority. Saban was viewed as somehow more dictatorial and controlling and maniacal and OCD and driven than other college coaches, even though he really wasn’t.

Second, to the national media, the NFL being superior in every aspect to college football is simply a given. And here’s this guy who was “a failure” in the NFL … although he absolutely would have been successful if he had stuck it out … going back to college football, “an inferior product where he could be a dictator with kids instead of having to deal with grown men on equal terms” and achieving all this success, and they resented and ridiculed it. Plus he “lied” to them about going to Alabama, even though he really didn’t.

Also back in the old days we did have supporters in the national media. Herschel Nissenson who was AP’s college football specialist for decades was very close to Coach Bryant. And the longtime New York Times college football writer … I can’t remember his name but I sat next to him at the bowl game in Miami in 1991 … was very positive toward Alabama.

Some of our worst press was actually in the South. (Furman Bisher)
