I really like what I see. It takes time for players to adjust to a new system and this is unfolding before our eyes. Back in the day I followed the Washington Redskins when Wilbur Marshall came to them from the best defense of all time the 1985 Chicago Bears. He looked lost the first year and I thought he got the money and relaxed. That was not the case. The second year he was the same dominate player he was at Chicago once he settled into the different schemes. He was a great player. As a side note Golding defenses at Ole Miss seem to be playing great. I hope this continues. I think coaching under Saban's shadow was a problem for him and suspected so at the time. I wish him the best going forward. Our coaching staff is looking good.

Appears to have taken a minute for the team to adjust to his scheme, but whatever is happening right now is pretty awesome imo

Number 11 for us has settled down for sure. He isnt the same player he was for the first few games.

He's not the same player because the DC finally figured out how to use him correctly. When Jihaad (#11) is sitting and reading he is a liability. He doesn't have to size to repeated take on those bigger OL and he's still learning to read the backfield so it takes him too long to process and fill a hole.

Opponents basically ran right at him because they knew he couldn't actually stop it.

What changed was Wommack starting using his athleticism and disruption to attack always. If Jihaad isn't blitizing from LB, he's on the edge, if not that he is dropping into coverage where is is fantastic as well.

So now he is playing more confident and aggressive.

This is why I always harp on the quality of the coordinator. If the OC or DC is good they will figure out the talent they have and use them as effective as possible.

I think the coaching staff had a plan for the defense that wasnt working that well and had to adjust. I think the defense has gotten much more aggressive. I also think the players have learned the system which has opened up the playbook.

Maybe a premature bump, but I'll gladly eat crow if it ages poorly.

Womack can't stop Vanderbilt's offense. Run the offense and you will run all over Alabama.
