Who'd like to take a guess at what Griffith's FG percentage was in SEC play that year? 85%.

He gets a lot of hate because of Kick 6. Even though that was nearly an impossible kick

All that Hate should be directed at useless Cade Foster for he was the person that shite the bed 4 times prior to the Kick 6.

This difference is not huge, and is largely due to us hitting 50% last year. Sure, we've all be disappointed in our FG kicking at times, but let's not act like we haven't been able to hit a FG ever.

See chart below:

Can't believe no one has called you on this yet. We did not go 1 out of 2 for 50% last year. Obviously whatever source you derived this from either produced the chart after game 1 or only listed Austin Jones's attempts for some reason.

LINK ]Instant Analysis: Monday BamaOnLine By Travis Reier

Since 2008, BamaOnLine.com's Instant Analysis has been a staple of Crimson Tide football coverage. That won't change in 2019, as we'll continue to provide Alabama fans with insight and interaction fresh from Tuscaloosa via Facebook Live.
As for items we touched on during the latest edition of IA, they included: (24:05)
* Residual thoughts from spring scrimmage No. 1.
* First up close look at the running backs this spring.
* Talking full field reads and Tua Tagovailoa.
* Cross-training linebackers continues at UA.
* Why Cameron Latu sticking at tight end makes a lot of sense (for now, anyway).
* In the Q&A segment, TONS of interaction with Crimson Tide fans!

LINK ]Alabama Football Practice Notes: 4/1/2019 TideSports.Com By Ben Jones - April 1, 2019
quote:

Alabama was back on the practice field today after Saturday’s scrimmage. The Crimson Tide was working inside despite it being a nice day in Tuscaloosa, maybe because some rainy weather on Sunday had soaked the fields.
This was a full pads practice. Here are some notes from the open period:
Wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, who was out on Saturday while attending a family member’s funeral, was still out today. We’ll check back for him on Wednesday.

Without Ruggs, here’s what the wide receiver groups looked like:
1st group Jerry Jeudy DeVonta Smith Jaylen Waddle
2nd group John Metchie Tyrell Shavers Slade Bolden
3rd group walk-on not on roster Xavier Williams Mac Hereford

Linebacker Ben Davis was walking out of practice in a black jersey as we walked in
Shyheim Carter was there with the DBs, also in black.
Terrell Lewis was with the OLBs in a black jersey.

Offensive lineman Matt Womack and tight end Kedrick James were dressed out and participating with their respective position groups.
Checked out the offensive line today, and I’m not sure Deonte Brown is in great shape at the moment. It took him some time to work his way into shape after he got to campus initially as a freshman. It may not be a huge deal at the moment since he’s suspended the first four games next season, but keep an eye on whether he’s rounding into shape this fall.
DB Jalyn Armour-Davis, who had a season-ending knee injury in the fall, has been practicing with a sleeve on his injured leg and a knee brace over it.

If you’re curious (and I am), Tino Sunseri appears to be working with the QBs as a graduate assistant.
Paul Bryant Jr. was quietly checking out practice today. It’s the second time this spring I’ve seen him there, perhaps because Paul Tyson is out there.

Random notes from here and there:

Womack back with the 1's OL moved Neal down to the 2's Ekiyor moved back to LG
2's would be Lashley, Neal, Brannon, D Brown and T Brown

Reports of Anoma working with the inside linebackers? Talent but very raw at OLB..can't imagine how he will do on the inside? seems like a lot to learn and high mountain to climb

QB line up T13 Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, T5 Tagovailoa, Paul Tyson, Layne Hatcher, Braxton Barker and Kyle Edwards Daddy T at practice again.. wondering if that puts any pressure on the coaches to ensure T5 is getting 2 looks? (but if rumors of Tyson not being on Scholarship, then the line up of the WO's would be about right after the scholarship QB's)

Reier (I believe) said RB coach was stressing ball security.. seems he was carrying some type of Bat like instrument and a boxing glove? maybe he was popping them? Anyway, I agree I am being impressed with several of the coaches... (jury still out on how PG will learn to coach the ILB's and get them comfortable calling the plays... (but looking at last year, not sure the ILB's/DC communication could get worse?)

Thank you and my bad. I honestly didn't check the number of kicks in that square of the chart. I got the chart and ran with it as quickly as I could to make that long post.

But the point remains that Bama has only been 5% make percentage below CFB average during Saban's tenure, and while it's disappointing, it's not the kicking catastrophe many make it out to be.

It's a lot easier to "climb that mountain" if you're right next to an experienced guy who tells you what to do, and you're a natural gifted athlete.

It's certainly possible that Anoma or another similar player could be the guy to get it done at Will. Moses at Mike ought to know the D like the back of his hand.

I think the stellar reports of our running backs in the scrimmage had more to do with our inside linebackers sucking. In my opinion they are going to have to move somebody else in there. Saban has had a lot of true freshman play ILB successfully in the past so It's not unlearnable.

Yeah never understood that...fans wax poetic about Van Tiffin (and he is a legend) but Griffith had a better career FG percentage, also had an iconic kick, and without his leg Bama has one less national championship...yet Tiffin is revered while Griffith is not. And I think people forget Griffith kicked with a stress fracture in his back nearly his entire time at Bama...

Heard a guy on with Martin Houston this morning. He mentioned that the inside linebackers didnt look good, and the kicking game was as bad a ever in that scrimmage. A walk on tight end Amos Giles is getting some notice. Can block and catch the ball. Said Waddle is better than last year. Anoma is improved. Carter looked good at db. Quarterbacks on working on progressive reads this Spring, not rpo's. Tua said Jones has more confidence is the big difference with him. One of them said Lia looked good, and said Tua was working with him at night on the play book. The other one said Lia had some good throws but made freshman mistakes too. They mentions 3 running backs--but not the 1st string back. Ford looked good runnng and catching the ball. The guy move from receiver has looked very good catching the ball out of the backfield.
