Saban was so defensive post game when asked about how the QB's played. Objectively one looks like a future first rounder, and the other one looks just like we knew he would. I'm puzzled as to why he doesn't let Jalen be second string.

I think it has to be a combination of that new redshirt rule and not completely believing Jalen when he says he's going to be here all year no matter what. Saban does not want to be forced to play Mac if Tua has to miss any time. Jalen still can't pass, but he's probably a better option than Mac at this point. Saban wants to keep him on the roster and keep his head in the game, which is no easy task. But yes, it does feel futile to keep up the charade at this point. Tua looks like Manziel without the baggage and Jalen looks like he needs to transfer to Georgia Tech.

Why do you need Saban to tell you water is wet?

It's clear Tua is the starter and Saban has respect for Hurts and doesn't want to publicly demote him.

I really think Saban feels the addition of Dan Enos will make jalen a decent passer or at-least improved. We are going to need to develop a number two as Tua is also a dual threat QB.We tend to see his passing ability and tend to forget how dual he is.
I personally don't think Mac will be a starter at bama.
I think Tua's brother or the Carson Beck(2020) kid wcould be starters down the line.I wont rule Paul Tyson out because he still has a senior year to get stronger.I think a Tyson with a little better deep ball would make me consider him more. The Carson beck kid has two more years to develop, which says a lot about were he stands on our recruiting board to be committed already.

I don't think he is going to come out and hurt Jalen's feelings by calling him number two. The situation looks awkward as frick to me but I don't really give a shite about it either way.

Jesus Christ! Are you really this dumb??? It's obvious to anyone with eyes that Tua is the starter. Why do you need Saban to say it? Jalen didn't even play until the game was out of hand. Tua lead the team to a td on every drive accept the one where Smith fumbled on the 20. Saban respects Jalen and he's not going to do anything that would disrespect the kid. You should try and learn from the example he's setting.

To me, based on what Saban has been saying about Tua and Jalen and how they were played, it just looks like Saban wants to continue trying to develop Jalen's passing game. Therefore, he wanted him to play some with the 1s last night.

It's actually annoying now. Just say Jalen can help the team but tua is the primary guy. That would end the questions how hard is that

Yep. He's annoyed to be asked that question but he could have ended it already. He chose not to so he really shouldn't bitch about it.

How is saying “both guys can help the team” and the running Tua out there as the obvious #1 any different?

Great CBS excerpt

Imagine, if you will, what Ferris Bueller must have felt when he got behind the wheel of Cameron's dad's 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California. That's how I like to think Alabama coach Nick Saban felt when he realized he could use a quarterback like Tua Tagovailoa. Prior to last season, Saban had already won five national championships (four with Alabama) primarily because he recruits enough blue-chip players to make those runs every year. To that point, though, he's won those titles without a true difference-maker at quarterback. No longer. Tagovailoa started Saturday's 51-14 win over Louisville and unquestionably is the guy for Alabama's offense. He can do everything Jalen Hurts does as a runner and a passer, and then some. He and receiver DeVonta Smith might be the most exciting television in the SEC. So just think: Alabama was molly-whopping opponents on the regular anyway. Now it's going to be a whole helluva a lot more fun watching them do it

He could have but he didn't. And he doesn't owe it a gotdamn single person to do so. When people ask stupid repetitive media questions, then Saban is going to tell them how he feels.

The question wasn't stupid at all. In fact, it was pretty innocuous. He's made the qb situation such a big deal, did you really think he wouldn't be asked about it? I mean, did you really think that?

The longing by some in our fanbase for Saban to "say something" about the QBs is so weird

Like they won't believe Tua is the starter until they hear Saban say it

Meanwhile, Tua starts every game and plays every meaningful snap

Jalen is the back up QB

Guys, Tua is the starter. Saban doesn't want to publicly demote Jalen because Jalen has done everything asked of him and he likes him. We can stop worrying about Jalen being the starter. He isn't. Jalen will end up redshirting unless Tua goes down.

I wouldn’t begrudge Jalen asking to be utilized only in an emergency situation for the rest of the year.

We don't need to keep this rotation mess against Ole Miss. All your doing is taking the pressure of the opponents defense when Hurts is in.
It's a conference game and we don't need to take the chance of blowing it.

And I think it will be all Tua at this point with Jalen coming in, hopefully for mop up duty. I also hope the D improves by this point, because OM has a lot of offensive talent, with the potential to put up a lot of points.
