Why can't our corners play like Travis Hunter and play the freaking ball? Understand routes?

Milroe made the wrong decision more often than he didn’t tonight. You want to ask him to make make an instant decision?
The second pick I blame on Rees. It was essentially a 1 man route that Texas was just sitting on. He’s gotta know his quarterback lacks the brains to just throw it away, so you’re begging him to just force the ball there.

Travis Hunter was the number one player in the country. He is a special talent.

Milroe has limited upside. In the right offense and conference, he could put up really good stats. Not going to happen in the SEC.
Changes need to be made on the Oline.
Hit the road recruiting some dudes for the defensive line tomorrow. Then the next day. Then the next day. Scour the JUCOs. Coaching on the defensive line has to get better as well.

There are no words for the second INT. It was literally the worst pass in the history of college football. I couldn’t believe it. Milroe stared the the Texas DB down and fired that pigskin right into his chest.
I am pretty sure Rees was drinking at that point.

Bro...Jalen Milroe stared it down so how the heck that's on Rees?
If he works left to right with his eyes...I guarantee you that would've been a completed pass.

Rees should’ve understood at that point in the relationship that a bad decision was likely with that play call.
Rees was put in a bad situation. He’s still paid a lot of money to put the guys he has to work with in the best situation.

Get 71 off the OL asap. He is a liability. Too many times he has cost us big plays.
56 was far more problematic. He killed two drives by himself.

They're nonsensical. Rees and Steele were solid. Dumb penalties and a bad QB did us in. WR routes were on point. WRs were catching the ball. Niblack is a mismatch every time he's on the field. QB couldn't take advantage.

I hate to say it but I think Buchner is the choice and I think we can win with him.

That's not how it goes.

This mess is the result of several years of apathy and entitlement— ROT — that started when Pete Golding stepped foot on campus. It won’t be fixed overnight. It won’t even be fixed, this season.
The standard fell. It was noticeable. Defense went to shite. It was noticeable. Discipline went to shite. It was noticeable- most penalties ever.
And Saban never once cared. I remember Saban almost having a stroke with the game in hand in the NCG against LSU because we got our first penalty of the night.
That’s gone.
The defense was atrocious for years. We couldn’t tackle. We couldn’t execute as well. Astonishingly, Pete Golding stayed on staff.
Offensive talent covered up the rot. We don’t have that offensive talent, anymore.
Saban allowed his fear of replacing coordinators to turn him soft. 7 years ago, he wouldn’t have put up with half the shite he does now. He’d have thrown headsets and chewed everybody’s arse in sight- including the ball boy.
Tonight, he just stands around and looks lost- reminiscent of Mike Dubose clapping his hands on the sideline every time we made a mistake.
Other coaches who weren’t cutting it were allowed to stay- presumably because of their recruiting ability.
But, it appears that was a flop, as well.
We’ve been noticing it for years. Hell, former players have been commenting on it.
It’s not coming back overnight.
I firmly believe Saban can change it if he wants. I’m just not sure he wants to, anymore. Old Saban is gone.
Saban who tolerates mediocrity and incompetence and entitlement is here.
Pawpaw Saban.
Sad. But, it was damn fun to watch for a long time! For that, I’m grateful.

Thank you! Rees has no personnel decision making power over Saban. Saban was going to give Milroe every chance to win or lose the job. Had this been a conference game I think Saban pulls Milroe.

Yeah, I also think that Milroe had the team behind him. When Milroe went to Florida to workout with all the WRs this summer while Simpson was working with a QB coach it was evident Milroe was gonna be the starter unless Simpson or Buchner came in fall camp and dominated

I was watching the WR’s shaking their heads coming off the field after the second pick. They obviously are frustrated.

That’s all? The almost constant pressure Texas got on our QB, the complete lack of pressure we got on their QB, and the massive coverage busts didn’t contribute?
We’re a lot worse than just penalties and a bad QB.

Texas was able to pressure Milroe because they believed he wouldn't make the reads and get the WRs the ball. They were right. You don't understand how a pass deficient QB allows a defense to create more pressure.
