Not surprised me lost to the best team. Am surprised it was only 3-2. I went to bed after 4 but we were giving up a lot of lead off baserunners.

Florida is going to beat us.

Alabama has lost seven straight in the WS since losing the championship series 0-2 to Florida in 2014.

That's a bad stat for Murphy.

Yeah and a loss tomorrow would mean of the eight straight losses, five would be against SEC teams (three vs Florida, two vs LSU in elimination games)

The other losses are OU (2) and Michigan.

Barnhill is going to be locked in after how Florida lost last night.

Our freshman pitcher did a fine job against probably the best offense in the country. She had excellent control of her change up and was throwing the riser very effectively. The biggest thing that gets her in trouble as it did last night is not getting ahead of the hitters. When she got behind or ran it out to 3-2, she became vulnerable.
Once she's improved her change up and gotten more polish and experience, she'll probably be the premier pitcher in the country.

On a different note...I played some pretty good quality ball as a young man, and men are able to throw a knuckleball (most womens hands probably aren't big and strong enough). A good knuckleball is damn near impossible to hit (and it's a catcher's worst nightmare ). Surely there are some ladies out there who could physically throw the pitch, and I don't know why coaches don't explore that possibility.

Yea I wished we were not playing Florida for sure. Just further confirmation that we got screwed on seeding from the start

The complaining about the seeding is pointless. Had we beat Florida in the tourney final we would’ve been a five. We didn’t.

Let it go.

Had we beat OU we’d be in excellent shape. We didn’t. It’s on us.

I'm not trying to stir up a hornets nest but I feel like Murphy needs to shake up the coaching staff. We've had a really good season, but I feel like things can get stagnant. Sometimes a fresh face can bring new ideas.

This young lady is apparently a Bama signee

quote:

Academy at the Lakes pitcher Lexi Kilfoyl solidified her status as perhaps the greatest high school softball player ever from the area after being named the Gatorade state softball player of the year for the second straight season.

quote:

Ranked as the nation’s top pitcher in the 2019 class, Kilfoyl was key to AATL defending its title. The Alabama-bound ace overcame a shoulder injury and went 12-1 this season with a 0.48 ERA and had 134 strikeouts in 72 ? innings. She was just as strong at the plate, hitting .562 with 12 homers and 37 RBIs.

Given that the knuckleball relies almost exclusively on the effects of gravity rather than gravity combined with rotation to cause it to move, I'm not sure an underhanded delivery without a mound would result in something as difficult to hit as what you see in baseball, even if you could throw strikes with it under those conditions.

Not complaining g just pointing out that it would be a lot different with proper seeding. One game in the tourney should not have dropped Bama IMO 4-5 slots with our record and regular season championship . UF was a 6 seed in the tourney and we beat them 3 out of 4. Just saying

with this stud pitcher coming in I could see one of our juniors entering the "portal". Cornell did not play at all in the supers.

What’s the deal with Cornell?
