You are right, but it's hard to preach about playing to standard and never being complacent and never revelling in prior accomplishments as the rock standard of your program and then be upset when people who have been with you from day one are acting and critiquing the program the exact way you have since then.
This is the exact problem.
I’m my humble opinion The Nick Saban of 2008-12 would listen to this Nick Saban and tell him he isn’t a champion.
You trained your entire fan base to think exactly how you wanted, and now that you’ve grown old/evolved you’re criticizing your own creation.
We are all hypocrites and change. I get it.
But we reserve the right to call him out for his newfound softness/weakness the same way he is calling the fan base out for being too critical/hard on this years team.

Do we still get to criticize the guys who don't have to go to class, don't have study halls, don't have to run laps, and are paid to be there? Because some of those guys are the problem with this team and who the vast majority of fans are pissed off at.

r. I can't tell if it's directed towards the team, he's getting softer, this team is just mentally unlike any team he's has, he knows this team is what it is, etc. I've given up trying to decipher it.
Honestly think he is defending his team TBH. Coach has to have his players back in the end.
Whatever it takes to get through to these guys, that is what he is best at.

This. He may very well be ripping their asses in practice and we don't know it.
This is one reason why players love playing for Saban. He may ride their asses, but they know he has their backs

I find it hard to believe there are guys not going to class.

I'm talking about the coaches. No class, no study hall, no laps, paid a 7 figure salary. Still can't signal in a play.

Ah gotcha. That makes more sense

He's genuinely pissed off and I don't blame him. But he's talking to the media as much as sidewalk fans. And nothing he said is more true than 'we get everyone's best games, every week and I don't know why some people can't understand that!'
Go back and watch Arkansas highlights against UGA, watch the LSU-Arkansas game again. You will not see 1/100th of the passion from Arkansas or LSU in either one of those games that they showed against us. Watch A&M against Colorado and how they played flat and with little emotion and look how they played against us.
Beating Alabama has always been special. We had a frickin 4-9 team under Shula that lost to Northern Illinois in Tuscaloosa and when NIU won, they celebrated like they won the National Championship.
When Peyton beat Alabama one year, he went and conducted the UT band in Tuscaloosa and you'd have thought UT won it all that night.
And just like when Bear was here, beating Alabama during a historic run means more. Teams pull out special fake FGs and punts and all kinds of things, just for us. Most teams like to have a week off before they play us.
We're the team that people rush the field on when they win.
If anything Saban and Alabama are a victim of their own success but that doesn't mean it's fair.
Every team in the country but UGA and Ohio State would kill to have our record and players this year. And UGA would trade both Bennett and Daniel's to have Bryce Young.
And we've had people on this forum say they'd rather have John Parker Wilson at QB than Bryce.
Beating Alabama is special and it means more than ever. So every win, we have to fight and scratch and claw and all this negativity finds it's way back to the players, more than ever in the age of Twitter, FB, Instagram, etc.
UGA beat Arkansas 37-0. So what? They only got one W for it, same us by winning by a TD.
Winning is the only stat that matters and nobody can win them all. But we've got a great shot at winning another conference title and possibly national title and our pussy fans are acting like we don't belong on the same field as UGA.
Hell, even David Pollack said he thinks Bama's gonna beat UGA in the SECCG. I mean how does a UGA grad feel that way but our fans don't? Maybe he knows something that a lot of folks that didn't play don't. Now he did say he thinks UGA is gonna win a rematch in the natty against us but to me that scenario is more likely than UGA beating us by 3-4 scores in Atlanta.
Also, Saban has been pretty prophetic about many things over the years and none more so than saying the Playoff would be bad for college football because teams that don't make it will consider making it to a great bowl game as a disappointing season.
And why are they trying to expand to 8 teams or more, when every year at least one team in the top 4 gets crushed and embarrassed, showing they probably didn't belong.

Bro you need to separate trolls from reality. There is no one, not even JPW, that wants JPW over Bryce.

They don’t get paid by Alabama (or whoever they play for) to play. They get paid by third parties for endorsements.

I mean, I’m probably guilty of some of the things he’s talking about. However, I think part of it is that we’ve been conditioned to expect dominance because that’s what Saban himself has always wanted. We’ve seen him rant after we’ve had wins where we didn’t play well. So I think many of us have come to be the same way.
I’m always appreciative of every win, because there was a time where we just hoped we could win by 1 point. But I guess I need to show that appreciation more.

You must miss the Golding-lovers who trash our players talent, recruiting and attempt to point blame at everyone and anything but our DC who suppose to organize and call plays for our defense.

Saban is just making it so nobody gets too upset when we lose to Georgia.

You're most likely right, but at the end of the day Saban is the one who hired Marrone, BOB and has kept Golding so it's his fault at the end of the day that we have mismanaged talent and not peaked our results.
Still love him though... we all make mistakes

I mean, you probably should speak for yourself. Tons of players get bashed on the regular. Only one immune seems to be Anderson.

I KNEW this was coming!
That FOOL who posted the "open letter" to him on here is the prime example of why successful coaches lose their joy of coaching. Folks will keep on bitching and second guessing the coaching, THEN when he retires will wail over it!
Again, I'd have made that post and that poster disappear from the board because I don't want a bunch of fools running off the best college football coach EVER!
